Hi everyone,

I’m looking for recommendations for free screen recording software that works well on both Windows and Mac. I need something reliable that can capture high-quality video and audio without watermarks or time limits.

Bonus features would include the ability to record specific windows or regions, basic editing tools, and easy exporting options. I’ve tried a few options, but either they’re too limited or add annoying watermarks.

Does anyone have experience with free screen recorders that balance performance and usability?

Any suggestions or personal favorites would be really appreciated!

thanks in advance for any help

OBS is the standard of the industry at this point, it's versatile, free and open source, there's a bit of a learning curve when using it, but it's totally worth it

I've used Fraps, Bandicam and now OBS.

OBS is by far the best. It the least CPU intensive and has the best feature set.
