I've always been curious to try FDS games beyond Metroid and Zelda (thanks for the translated versions).

Not just "enhanced ports of Famicom/NES games" but games meant for that hardware specifically.

Bio Miracle Bokutte Upa - It's a Konami game and the music sounds heavenly on the FDS. (I particularly liked the song in Stage 3-3). They made a cart version later but some of the music was altered which I didn't like. Upa was popular enough to be featured in other Konami titles like the Parodius series, Konami Wai Wai World 2 and the re-edited Konami Wai Wai World 1 when they no longer had the licenses for King Kong and Goonies.

Arumana no Kiseki - An Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom derivative/rip-off. Nevertheless, it was pretty good but you'll need to get used to the gameplay, particularly mastering the limited tools you have at our disposal for certain platforming challenges. And you'll need to farm for them too. Excellent music as well. Also had cart versions later.

Those 2 racing games with Mario and Luigi
These two, right?

When I got my FDS I picked up SD Gundam World: Gachapon Senshi - Scramble Wars and actually really enjoyed it and was my most played game on the system till the drive belt broke ::sailor-embarrassed

Super Mario Bros. 2 (The Lost Levels)
Zelda no Densetsu: The Hyrule Fantasy
Metroid
F1 Grand Prix
F1 Grand Prix II: 3D Hot Rally
Yume Koujou: Doki Doki Panic
Nazo no Murasame Jou
Hikari Shinwa: Palthena no Kagami

Super Mario Bros. 2 (The Lost Levels)
Zelda no Densetsu: The Hyrule Fantasy
Metroid
Stupid question but what are the big changes between those and their NES counterparts?

I know that Metroid used a save system akin to Zelda's but SMB2 JP and Zelda 1 are pretty much the same?

More or less. Metroid and Zelda never got original Famicom releases, just FDS ones on floppy disc. Metroid had multiple saves, and Zelda had some slight changes, like blowing into the Famicom controller's microphone could be used to damage some enemies.

I'm not sure I'd really count them as exclusives, since they got NES releases, and I think Zelda even got an original Famicom release later. Super Mario Bros. 2/The Lost Levels was only on FDS though, it was never on NES or original Famicom

The difference between the Famicom Disk versions and NES versions are the folowing.

-Different sounds
-Load times

-Save system. With the exception of Zelda, The NES version of Metroid and Kid Icarus use a passwords system instead of a save feature.

-In the Disk System version of Zelda, it has an exclusive control gimmick such as blowing or shouting on the mic from the second player controller to get rid of Pol's Voice instead of shooting arrows at them.

Later in 1992, Zelda 1 and 2 would get a rerelease cartridge for the Famicom without using the Disk system add-on.

But what's amazing is that you can use an actual NES AC adaptor to power on the Disk System add on.

Oh wait, how is this emulable in Mesen or FCEUX?

Are they technically proto-Mario Kart games?
At a glance, they seem like nifty NES racing titles that use Mario as a mascot. As opposed to say a "proto-Mario-Kart" kinda deal.

Murasame Castle is pretty good.
It's basically "what if Zelda 1 was a bullet hell".
