Proto-Hank Hill was one of the best surprises I got out of watching Blovis & Bustamante in their original language -- it's literally the same voice and I had no idea.

But Proto-Daria is so cursed in this, damn it XD

Agreed about Hank Hill, and Oddly i HATED Daria in this but loved the main Show
I didn't see myself as Daria in the show. You know, most people like a show because they see themselves as a self-insert of the main character. I found myself drawn more to Jayne, the artist friend. Though probably due to loving to write and such myself, I know she was a painter type artist, but I still felt more like her than I did Daria at the time.

Love this show. The new seasons are pretty good too. Haven't seen New Season 3 but 1 and 2 were good. They do a few episodes where they are older and it's hilarious.

And I agree. Daria was just cynical and apathetic for the sake of being so.
Sometimes she would be funny with her deadpan humor, rare, but it happened occasionally.
As you said, she was a cardboard stereotype of what the writers of the show thought the edgy, mopey teen girl was at that time....

And, well, she didn't age as well as some of the other characters.

And they did.
Most if not all, were pretty spot on. I don't know how well they would hold up in today's world, I don't keep up with how people view these stereotypes now and I honestly don't care. But yeah, they did get all the side and background characters great. So, how in the nine circles of the Great Old Ones' realms did they get the main character so horribly wrong?

I used to think this was the stupidest shit ever... Then, the pandemic happened, I was suddenly on YouTube a lot, and I kept finding videos.

Now I'm absolutely addicted to these and the algorithm still shows me their clips from time to time. I love them! Especially the Burger World episodes.

*Sighs* such idiotic brilliance.

its done in a way that its clever but stupid if you don't understand it lol they actually end up outsmarting people a lot of the time.

I like the Closing Time episode the most, where they're told they can do whatever they want with the leftover food since no one else's going to be coming into order so they play burger tag and then start throwing food at the ceiling fan and get 37 health violations by Harry Buddisker.
