Has anybody here played Balatro? I have been playing for about 10 months on and off. i do love it but sometimes i hate it. Problem is i think it makes other games seem less enjoyable by comparison. The amount of variety in strategies, the speed of gameplay, zero filler / downtime, the learning taken from run to run -- i have played other addictive rogue likes in the past but nothing compares to this. I find myself i struggle to play other games, let alone other genres any more...

Have you played Balatro? Can you relate??

This is actually why I've avoided playing it.

Everyone I know who has played it sounds like a crackhead now. I'm scared.

I love Balatro, the best game of the category "funny numbers go up"

really? glad its not just me then... i don't know anyone IRL that plays it...
I had it on my phone but it was too addicting I'd end up not sleeping or not paying attention.
yeah i have it on vita - i should not take it to bed with me

The clones have been my favorite. I've been particularly enamored by Nubby's Number Factory and Clover Pit (which just makes me think of the song "Circle Pit" by Wargasm every time I think of it).

Bingo Betty is also looking rather promising

on english:
Balatro isn't just a card game, it's a way of life. I breathe and live Balatro. If I had a son, I'd name him Full, and if I had two, I'd name them Two and Pair so they could level up to 18 and defeat the Boss Blind as adults. I raise a glass to Balatro, oh, how I raise a glass to Balatro. It made me a better person, and when my phone is dead, I close my eyes and play it in my mind. The Wheel of Fortune dictates my life: I always carry a banana in my pocket for extra points. I identify with the Misprint Joker because my mental state is just as unstable. I can't even go up stairs without thinking about Balatro, and the day I die, I hope they engrave on my tombstone: "Died in the middle of a game of Balatro."

The only heart I want is the Queen's. My dad thinks I've lost my mind, but he doesn't know what it's like to be the highest card in the family. The day Balatro has no more fans is the day I'll no longer be in this world… because I…

AM BALATRO

I knew it, every single friend on a Discord server played it, myself... i personally didn't care, it wast in my eyes Solitaire with extra steps

I LOVE BALATRO!! Although, I don't play it as much on my phone as I did last year, I still love it. I also told about it to a classmate and he installed it on every computer in school he could get his hands to. Now I feel like the master that teaches their apprentice how to get better than them since I usually watch him play and tell him what he could do better and which joker combos are good.

i played on swtich for a few months. To be honest it took me more than i like to admit to actually understand the game.
But after a few gameplays i sort got the things right.
The problem with balatro, at least to me, is that the game got old super fast, after i managed to beat the game a few times and unlocke others decks it just felt bland and i stopped playing.

I actually ended up playing a little of it for first time as I varnished friend's old laptop he asked 20 bucks for to my own use, installing XFCE Linux mint and wondering what an 8th gen i3 and 4 gigs of RAM can run. I did not mean it to have any games but of course I ended up thinking that regardless. Someone had made (not so legal) native port of balatro for linux and I did play few rounds, I can understand it though vampire survivors was still slightly more my tempo. Still pretty great simple clean and somewhat casual game that rocks. It is likely go to games on that laptop if I go somewhere and have to do something to kill time.

I completed all the achievements on Steam and the game does what it's supposed to.

It's pretty neat, although I'm really no good at it (though I can't say I've played with any consistency for a long time). While I do like roguelikes a lot in general, I'll be the first to admit I don't like ascension systems, and often prefer to play on the base difficulty.

Regarding Balatro specifically, I'm waiting on the balance patch to see what changes, since from what I've seen, the more difficult the stake, the less actual viable strategies you have, even though ultimately this is the problem with every kind of additive difficulty system.

FUCK YEAH!!!

Balatro became my new religion a long time ago

I played it so much on PC.
Then, played so much on PlayStation 4
And now i'm playing the fan-port on PSP

I didn't know there was a PSP fan port. ::omgdoom

I haven't played Balatro. I did play the CloverPit demo. That was pretty fun.

came here just to raise my eyebrow at the question "has anyone here played balatro"

This is exactly what I needed to hear. Seeing how much everyone loved the game made me feel like I was missing something, but I still held back. I was waiting for it to be at least half priced, and now I have an even better reason.

As someone who played it on different systems, is the PSP fan port enjoyable enough? I am aware of the fan ports, including one on DS, but I heard some features are missing.

Well its a retro forum and people have interesting takes unlike reddit where the upvote system leads to a circlejerk / mono-opinion
