Back when Gamecube games used to very affordable, nowadays its not anymore and its depressing.

This is why you just buy a GCLoader or do the Picoboot mod. Even as someone who loves physical games, I have my Gamecube collection stored away since it's all available to me on an SD card.
I have to ask: then why keep the stored away collection? What purpose is it serving at that point?

Yeah it does suck whats become of the retro market these days. Thankfully with things like emulation you can pretty much play GC games as near perfect as original hardware. I'm just grateful as well that most of my favorite games on there I still have the physical copies of from when I was a kid, especially games like Pikmin 2. When I saw how much a near mint or even good copy goes for now... 😬

I tried Dolphin and I'm just too low tech to run it well enough to say "good enough for me". Maybe after I update my craptop to something better. I can do PS2 depending on the game. If you have trash specs games like Atelier Iris should run just fine.

People spending tons on retro hardware and games are eventually going to lose the battle with time. So I'm not too broken up about game prices going through the roof. It's cheaper for me to get a new laptop.

GCLoader is the way. All the games, you just need the cube itself.

I still have my Game Cube. But I'm not too experienced with hardware. I'd be afraid I'd ruin everything.

If you ever did make the decision to buy the GC loader, all you're messing with is essentially a screwdriver. No soldering. Just unplugging something and replugging another. Super easy. If you're that worried, there's videos on youtube showing the whole process to show you what to expect.

I really love the gamecube, but i don't think its worth spending close to a retail price of like a 15-20 year old games like this, plus the discs might end up having disc rot in the next 10 years or so. I mean sure we have emulation which is a Dolphin emulator which that's good as long as you have a decent PC. But the problem is when it comes to Nintendo they just being D**kheads when it comes to emulation, which is pretty selfish of them considering Nintendo makes alot of money yearly and if they are that strict with emulation where else we supposed to preserve our games. I mean sure NSO is bring in gamecube games on Switch 2 but not everyone has the money to buy switch 2 because of its high price point, and i don't think not every gamecube game will be on there unless its popular Like Super mario Sunshine, or Smash bros melee which are most likely to be on there. Anyways, what are your thoughts on the prices for physical gamecube right now compared to 12+years old which are cheaper and affordable.
I concur. I've always stood by the fact that physical GCN games, especially the first party ones, haven't been worth buying for years due to just how scalped they are. There are tons of GCN games that are honest 2/5s that will run you $100+ even BEFORE shipping just because they're perceived as "gems" or "collector's games" or are "rare" in some way. It's getting harder to experience older games on real hardware without lining some reseller's pockets and it sucks because the original games on original hardware is always the best way to go. Not to mention that most of the time it's the only way as emulation or soft modding (modded wii)/hard modding (flippydrive or so) consoles isn't an option for the grand majority of people. It kind of saddens me when I see games that I owned as a kid (i.e. Super Mario Sunshine) go for like $50~ on eBay, or local """retro game stores""" try to pedal a copy of F-Zero GX for $80~. That's highway robbery for these games, but I suppose its just supply and demand. I don't think its worth fussing about though since, much like the NES/SNES, the nostalgia wave will pass and the games will likely drop in price. In the meantime there's always emulation and ODE solutions or modded Wiis to fill the void of easily accessible GCN games until people start scalping PS3 games or something.

Say that to the guy who lost his cartridge of Solatorobo with the package in good condition when I moving to other city.
Man it sucks, and I love this game, now days I can just emulate it because the prices are crazy for this game in good condition.

Much of my Gamecube library is pre-owned stuff I got years ago from Game Stop. They're definitely not mint condition but they are complete and I've played all of them and treasure them.

I just posted the following thoughts in another thread by accident:

I've bad mouthed Game Stop quite a bit for being such a shitty, shady company, but man you could get great deals from them back in the old days if you weren't too obsessed with condition of your games. Yeah, you'd get a case with some sticker residue and a game with maybe some light scratches on it but you had a game to play, a manual to read, and a happy wallet. Too bad they had a tendency to sell used games to people as "new" games as well LOL.

Back when the GC was still in production, it seemed like if you checked often enough, you'd find a like-new copy. I bought Skies of Arcadia and Cubivore both used for $20 each but it looked like whoever traded them in had never done anything beyond opening them. Pretty cool. I bet people who looked when the Wii first came out probably found tons of gems in really good shape for a fair price.

It's kind of a shitshow right now with preorders but Flippy Drive is a good option on the cube, too. Still have my bins of games stored away but we are in a golden age of indie devs pushing out retro products right now.
