Movies Awesome movies ruined by the ending

Snowpiecer.

I simply choose to believe the scene inserted after the train crash implying there were survivors was forced in there by producers the themes make much more sense when everyone dies

The original ending to Army of Darkness. I mean sure, I get the whole idea would've been to do a sequel where Ash fought the Deadites in the future, but... I don't know, it just feels a bit too mean spirited given the events of Evil Dead 1, 2 and that movie.

Thankfully they did a better ending which sent him back to normal times and led into Ash Vs Evil Dead.

Also, just because it's a take a like; Terminator 2. The Director's Cut ending is far superior because it caps off Skynet, Judgement Day and all that, giving Sarah and John the ending they deserved and made Dyson's sacrifice actually mean something. The original ending ruins T2 because sequels can exist, which in turn ruin it.

The ending reminded me so something. But I cannot recall the film or TV episode of whatever it was. The character I really felt bad for was the lady looking for her kid. I think she should have been the main character and not "Mr. Generic Action Dude".

Oh I'm certain the entire thing underwent a ton of changes from the original script like this! The director is on record saying he told Harvey Wienstein, the producer, to not change something "because my dead father wanted it to be like that" in a desperate attempt to get him to stop changing things on set last minute. It worked, also his dad is alive and fine lmao

A movie doesn't get entirely ruined by the ending if the movie is good.

On the other hand I got disappointed by endings in several movies.

I tend to only remember the movies that really shook me or moved me deeply, so honestly, none of their endings ever disappointed me. If a movie is good, its ending is good too — and the other way around.

Two words: "My Girl" (1991).

It was a devastating ending to a movie that wasn't even threatening to go down that route.
My sister got that as a birthday present once. I wanted to watch it immediately as I was a big fan of Macauley Culkin at the time.

Unfortunately, there were younger kids at the birthday party and she didn't want to risk upsetting them, so I already had the ending spoiled for me going in.

It's a brutal ending, but enjoyable.

Sorry to necro this post, but you are so right with this. All the build up, all the character sacrifices, all the character growth thrown away. Steve and Aja's babies ? Never existed. Strickland turning good? He might not now. Garbage, del Toro should be ashamed of himself for writing such a garbage movie.

Might get flak for this but....

I wouldn't say it ruins the film but it holds the film back from being the masterpiece it's made out to be imo. Honestly Miyazaki tends to be pretty bad at ending films from what i've seen.

Ratatouille and I'm going to be cursed that I hate that ending I wanted the ending They continue in the kitchen working
