A trophy like the one we get for contributing to the duplicate hunters forum game, but aimed to positively reinforce the rules we already have. This has been implemented in other xenforo forums successfully.

There's no bureaucracy at all, just the current flow of moderating a forum. We're just acknowledging the ones who are able to moderate themselves.
I can see you're passionate about this, I just think you're wrong.

I get your point, though I disagree.
Personally, I don't see how it'd be healthy for the site to publicly display that certain users are perceived to be more just than others for simply existing and not breaking rules. I've never received a warning ever but it's not something I'd be comfortable parading around. Gives me "teacher's-pet" vibes.

The "medal" of not having warnings is not having them.
I too never received a warning. You could say the same from the duplicate hunters trophy, the medal of making the site sane for all is already making em sane for all. This is as harmless as the duplicate hunter award.

Not passion, that's reasoning. Your own reasoning has been proven wrong.

I'm kind of inclined to agree.
Rewarding people for expected behavior seems unnecessary. There shouldn't have to be a carrot to motivate people to just be civil, and at worst it might just make people blow their gasket even harder if they end up receiving a warning while they're gunning for the award.
This.
People shouldn't receive cookies for not acting like dumb animals, but rather be penalized if they do.

That just sounds like more arbitrary work for the moderators, to me.

I disagree. Nobody is expected to make the effort of sorting through threads to help the moderators with merging them, and as such getting a little medal award for something you actively choose to do because you want to help, is intrinsically more worthy of recognition.

Positive reinforcement and positive punishment work in the same line, they're not mutually exclusive. We would instead strengthen the rules implementing the award.

I don't see how I've been proven wrong by any stretch. You just don't want to be disagreed with.
He also started a fight with Jellyjam. Which got quickly taken care of.
He deleted his posts on my profile, I never reported him.

I'm a big believer in encouraging additional effort, and praising achievements, but I respectfully disagree with this suggestion, for reasons similar to those already put forward by PacGuy and Tonberry.

Still! This gives me food for thought on other ways we can celebrate the efforts of people who regularly contribute. Will have a ponder.... ::thinking

Moderation work would be softened if people were stimulated to moderate themselves.

The problem here is that you're questioning the nature of doing a certain work/behaving in a certain way or not, while I'm discussing the practical consequences of implementing the trophy. If something works to lessen the mod work, then it just works. I'm not interested in discussing the theory of desirable behavior, but acknowledging the ones who deserve it, once they're able to moderate themselves.

Also, remember that the trophy would have to be claimed. Which means you're free to never claim it.

It's more trouble than it's worth.

Could you please not bring irrelevant fighting clutter into active discussion threads?
Not replying further to this.

There's no problem. I just disagree with the proposal (and with the comparison to the duplicate hunter award thing), you're still allowed to bring the suggestion up, and you're not required to defend it.

I think giving people medals for doing the bare minimum (=nothing) would be bad for the health of the forum.

I agree they're not mutually exclusive, but we don't need to give out participation trophies for basic decency.

It’s like getting a free dessert at a restaurant just for not pooping on the floor. There’s no 'no pooping' sign, but obviously, we can't do that.

No wonder they won't let me back in Arby's

Yeah, I too am leaving the decision up to the userbase and I think medals for softening the burnout of mod work would be good not only for the health of the forum, but indeed for the health of the mods as individuals.
