As someone who followed the multiple threads of EBBR's development on Starmen.net since around 2011, I am incredibly happy to finally see this release. Projects this ambitious got announced every other week in the retro gaming circle, especially in the Mother/EB fanbase, during the late-00's to mid-10's (anyone else remember, "Mother 4 is releasing winter 2014!").
The fact that EBBR not only endured despite the fact that ROM hacking tools weren't nearly as robust in 2007 as they are now, the starting and stopping of multiple forum threads, revolving door of team members (including lead programmers), and development even restarting at least once, this release is nothing short of a minor miracle.
For every dozen promising-looking fan projects of this caliber from that era, started by passionate-yet-inexperienced fans, two or three at most would progress far enough to convincingly look like they may get completed before the sresses of life and hobbyist burnout would eventually claim them, and maybe one of those would actually see a complete release on an especially good day.
So kudos to Gabbi and her team, especially since they had to reboot development in 2021 working off of scraps to finish this.
