Atmospheric games recommendations?

If the PS1 aesthetic is your thing, check out Hellnight. The gist is that you're exploring an underground city beneath Tokyo after a train derailment strands you and another survivor in the tunnels.

You can meet and recruit other survivors as you explore the city but practically the entire time, you're being stalked by a creature that escaped from deeper inside the city. Not only are you in danger but so are your companions: if the creature catches up, they can die permanently.

The original Quake and Doom 64 can be pretty immersive once you let yourself get sucked into them. Doom 64, especially, it just oozes a bleak atmosphere.

If old PC games are an option then I'd also recommend Clive Barker's Undying and Vampire: The Masquerade Bloodlines.
I've tried playing Doom before, but fore some reason I can't seem to get into it. I don't know if it's just that I never got to it on the right time. I did like Exhumed for the PS1 which is a similar gameplay. I've never played Quake though. It may be interesting to give it a try.

I've been really wanting to play Vampire: The Masquerade for a long time, that game looks awesome and I've heard really good things about it. I should keep an eye for it and try to buy it on the next sale. I never heard of Undying before but that looks REALLY good. I'll keep an eye on it too, it got me intrigued. Thank you!

Baroque
Blade Runner 1997
Grim Fandango
Enemy Zero
I had played a little bit of Baroque before and it looks super dope. I really have to get to play it some day, the setting and aesthetics are just on point.

I've never watched Blade Runner before actually! I should watch it one of this days and maybe I'll be in the mood for trying games about it. I do like myself a good point and click adventure, so I'll keep it in mind :))

I played Grim Fandango, and it was great. I'm pretty nostalgic about these comedy point and click adventures. They're always a good time.

Enemy Zero looks awesome! Seems pretty original too! I'll definitively try this one out. I've never played a Saturn game before either.

Thanks!

the stalker games
pacific drive
yume nikki
I bought the first Stalker and had it on my backlog for the longest time. It looks great and I should really get to play it soon ::biggrin

I had seem some things about Pacific drive some time ago in some video on Youtube. It looks insanely cool. I'll be lurking on the Steam shop for a good moment to buy it on sales and give it a try hehe.

Yume Nikki I feel is one of those classic games everyone knows about but I've never played myself and really don't know much about. I do love the aesthetics though. I really should get to play it a couple days I feel like it.

Thank you!

It seems this post was specifically designed to fully activate my neurons. I didn't know about this game but based on what you tell me and what I'm seeing about it I know I've got to play this. Thank you for the recommendation!

The Suffering for PS2 and Baroque for PS1.
Definitively will try Baroque! The Suffering is a game I learned about a long time ago and it seemed really cool but I could have never played it because it looked way to scary for me :loldogBut I trust I'm all grown up now and ready to shoot PS2 monsters without hiding behind my bed...right?

Thanks!

Didn't know about the Vampire Hunter D game, but looks really cool! I've been wanting to watch the movie for some time now. Maybe I will and check the game out!

I have a kinda dear memory about Alone in the Dark for the PS1. I had it in a demo disc, and in that demo disc I had Tomba too, which I loved (I had the full game but don't ask me why I liked to play the demo too). I was really young at the time and still didn't know how to read, so I basically tried to select the games in the demo out of memory. Whenever I selected Alone in the Dark, I was terrified hahaha. I still have a settle accounts on that game!

I recently played Haunting Ground just a couple months ago, and I didn't expect to love it as much as I did! It was disturbing... in a few ways... but the atmosphere was on point, and it had such beautiful PS2 graphics! I'm sill trying to clear the few remaining achievements on RA haha.

I had a demo for Obscure in the PS2, and the beginning really caught my attention. However, it was way 2spooky4me lol. I'll have to give it a try now that I'm a brave adult :loldog

I had D, Evergrace and Deception on my "want to play" list. I barely know anything about those games, but the little I know looks really good!

Thank you!
