Am I the only one who wants the DDD Duology to be brought to modern consoles? Not like a digital download from the PS store or the Xbox game pass or something but like actually rereleased for PS5, maybe PS4 and also Xbox One and series X/S?

There are so many SMT games that haven't been ported anywhere, and it sucks because Atlus would just be making free money if they did. Them porting games like Nocturne and Etrian Odyssey means that more will (hopefully) come soon.

I agree Atlus needs to get on their preservation game!!
Yeah, but they been working on so many NEWER games...they ain't a bunch of lazy bums relying on single franchise or a new game a decade. Their library is humongous.

Before anything else, SMT1, 2 and If need official translations and modern ports. Just my two cents.
SMT1 already had an official translation but because Atlus are stupid, they trapped it on IOS and forgot to update it, so you can't buy it any more.

I know that, and that's exactly why it doesn't count, in practice. Plus, as far as I'm aware, the GBA never got a port of SMT If, so even if they did bring the GBA versions officially, it would still be missing one game.

If it weren't for fans actually backporting the translation of the first game's GBA port, it would be nearly impossible to have access to it. Best chance we have is if the team that did SMT 1 PS1 actually goes ahead and give the other two the same treatment, but who knows when/if this will happen.

Why would they when everyone is just gonna play the SNES or PSX versions fan translated. Companies are there to make money.

The SNES versions are buggy and crude without extra pattches, the GBA never got SMT2 fan translaed and If, despite being translated better than the other two, is still rather crude (no menu VWF).

Those are foundational titles without which neither modern SMT nor Persona would exist. I very much doubt proper ports of the most advanced versions wouldn't sell.

The really good MT games are MT2, and SMT 2 if..., 3 and 4, and the persona series.
SMT 1 is alright, but you can super abuse status effects to beat it. MT is just a slog. The only reason to do it is to unlock stuff in Kyūyaku Megami Tensei for Megami Tensei II.

SMT fans don't actually play the games... Except for us, and even some of us probably just watch Marsh do it for us.
That's how I got into real SMT. I got into Persona cause I played Revelations on PS1. Then I saw Marsh explain SMTIF and thought it looked cool and started emulating SNES since that's the only version in English

Do you guys actually know what preservation is? all of these games have already been preserved by the good people that dumped them online years ago. the files are free, accessible and playable to everyone now (even if you don't have a pc). Re-releasing a game on modern consoles is not "preservation", emulation is.
20 years from now the ps5 will be in the same state as the ps2, its games will not be sold anymore and its online store will be closed, meaning that any old game re-released on that platform will eventually also become "unavailable".

Yes and you can easily find them online so what's your point? Also only the SMTI bugfix is required, SMTII is playable as it is.

Would be nice but it's not that popular, slight chance they do it since they ported a similar game already (SMT3) using Unity.

Digital Devil Saga 1-2 collection atlus🙏

Also a SMT Nine english version too 🙏

Speaking of Nine I still find fascinating of how the strange original xbox emulation on the 360 can run that game without errors.

My point is that there are better ways to play than the SNES versions regardless, and these should become more widely available.

They were on such a role of updating and preserving so many of their classics on the 3DS specifically, but unless you're Persona 3 thru 5 they don't seem to care anymore. It is such a shame that so many amazing ports are left on the 3DS and so many others never even got a modern rerelease.

The fact that Square Enix got around to letting Kawazu give stellar modern ports to the fucking SaGa series of all things before Atlus started giving a damn about cataloguing one of the most beloved JRPG IPs of all time is nuts to me even as a SaGa fanatic lol

I've heard rumors that the Devil summoner games will be ported to PC, specifically the Raidou duology. This is based on Nocturne's steam achievements being overwritten, with seemingly Raidou specific achievements existing at one point.

DDS 1+2 remaster would be amazing; it's megaten at it's best imo. And if these Raidou rumors are true, perhaps the rest of the PS2 games might follow.

But I still want an official translation of SMT II and Devil summoner, atlus. Where are they, atlus?

Atlus stopped being able to make easy money porting from the DS to its immediate successor so they stopped doing the ports. The only one of those 3DS ports that was worth a damn was Soul Hackers... every other one was a cheap cash grab with the story messed with, P2W DLC forced in and sometimes they'd mess with the game balance too to "encourage" sales of the DLC (see the Radiant Historia port). I believe they stopped after the EO2 port/remake got heavy backlash in Japan, over its DLC of course, and I'd rather they not start again all things considered.

I'd rather emulate these games than play some overpriced unity port with a worse translation and that is so lazy that it can't even decide if its 4:3 or 16:9, but it will probably happen eventually

A DDS 1+2 port would be preferred.

Do not add any new content or characters. All we ask is for the game to be made available on modern systems.
This, pretty much. The only remaster aspects I'd want is maybe HD textures and other QoL things. It'd be cool if you could use 2's mantra system in 1, for example. Grinding in 1 could be super tedious for late level mantras (shout out to anyone who had the patience to grind for destroyer/dark lord/etc), so it'd be nice if a hypothetical remaster could do something to help speed up that process.

But seeing how atlus handled Nocturne's remaster, I'm a bit skeptical lol.
