AMA Ask Waffles!

Ask Me Anything
If you were to make a video game, what genre of game would you make and why?
I made both a graphic adventure, a fighting game and a bullet hell thing, so I guess I'd want to refine those (two of them were never released).

So that's just over 400 posts across nearly 30 AMA threads and counting....also, our busiest day in terms of total posts ever?

I guess my question to you is are you proud of yourself?!

(Nah, good job with this one!)

I won't be until you make one of these yourself ;D

What music do you like? Do you listen to any local artists that you enjoy as well? Also as a former Waffle House server, could I interest you in Bacon Egg Hashbrown Bowl peppered(jalapeños) and capped(mushrooms) with the option of cheese and Waffle House sauce (chipotle mayo) ?

I mostly like Punk, Pop and Soft Rock, with particular interest in Pop Punk and Skater Punk.

Yes, I enjoy listening to bands like Árbol, Ataque 77, Los Ratones Paranoicos, Las Ligas Menores and Los Pericos, for example.

That sounds lovely.

You might have answered this already, but I think it would be an interesting question.

What is a game that you consider your guilty pleasure? Like you know it's bad, but you still love it regardless.

For some reason I always find myself coming back to the PS1 port of Need For Speed III.

It's really bad, yet...

HEY WAFFLES: As a fellow long-time forumite, I've gotta ask. You've mentioned a few English-language boards you frequented in the past, but did you ever post on any non-English forums? If so, would you mind sharing a bit about them, and your thoughts on the time you spent there?

Do you have a game you really like in a series/genre that you typically don't like at all?
This goes for movies, comics, books, music, whatever too, but I figured games first due to the nature of the forum.

Yes, actually.

I spent the first ten years of my online life posting exclusively on Spanish-speaking forums, some of which are still around today (but I no longer wish continued membership of).

They were... Interesting. In a way, a lot of them felt like RGT: they had their enthusiastic crowds and were pulling pretty impressive numbers, but then everything went to shit once there was a very toxic spirit of competition that even saw people getting banned from some boards for being members of others. Very, very weird overall. I stopped visiting my favorite one in 2014, after having spent a decade and over 12K posts in that place. It was no longer a place I felt proud to be on, despite making some of my biggest contributions in there.

As for the rest... Most were alright, but felt fragmented. Others tried to enforce rules drafted in the early aughts that clearly didn't apply on the "online ecosystem" of the 2010s anymore, causing them to repel newcomers at a time when most of the old guard was going away, pushed out by RL™. One particular board went from pulling 150 posts a day to two a week, and now has registrations disabled altogether.

Did I have fun, though? Absolutely! In fact, I went to my first forum reunion because of one of those boards, but the lingering aftertaste is a bitter one indeed.

Yeah.

I really like Panic Bomber!, despite me not liking puzzle games all that much.

I also like The Walking Dead (comic), despite getting sick of hearing about nothing but zombies in media for an uncomfortably long time. That said, I couldn't get into the TV show at all... they changed way too much.
