IDK what's the fuss about it. For example part of your taxes is used by your government to develop new ways to kill people. So don't be a citizen too then ayy lmao. What makes it a difference when a company make an investment in such stuff?: None.

For decades many companies, especially American ones does fund or directly cooperate with military and related organizations to fund and/or develop military related tech and stuff. Number 1 example of it is Microsoft so let's not buy XBOX too then. Let's not help Americans kill us by developing weapons with our money!!!!! lol

Spotify pays terrible, inflates it's playlist with fake artists, and has several issues with handling artist rights and royalties. I've had to deal with it with my own music as well as some of the bands I've managed. Regardless of the recent news with the CEO, there's been so many more reasons not to use or pay for spotify.

There's so many options out there now for both consumers and artists like Apple Music, Deezer, YouTube Music and Bandcamp to name a few. I'm glad that something actually caused more people to look into alternatives.

There’s still YouTube Music and iTunes as long as the artists are in both of those platforms there still a way for them to make an income without worrying about the Spotify issue.

They probably have better offers from other providers.
Honestly I get better royalties from my shitty music I uploaded for lolz for like 30+ music streaming services outside of Spotify that I had no idea most of them existed lol.

Spotify gone so shit people don't even wanna use it for free anymore. Last time I checked they removed lyrics display option to free users and then you cannot search for music anymore.

When you offer your service for it you cannot make more money by making people think "good thing I don't pay for this shit", you gotta offer a great service so people would be ashamed for using it for free. For years when I used Spotify back then they made me glad I didn't even bother with their free trial BS lol.

Another thing is how Spotify is "ok" that recording companies using bot services for fake likes + follows + listen amounts for cheating the system to prioritise their singers and bands. It makes the artists who doesn't pay for bot services have no reach to people who even actively look for new artists to discover and all because you are choked down. Governments and Spotify acted like they care but I do suspect Spotify actually allows it for money lol. So for years Spotify is so ignorable for artists and if people didn't leave it it's just because "well I kinda forgot Spotify exist but at least we can get a little royalty from it so let's stay until Spotify really fuck up" and I guess this latest BS was just an excuse for many artists wanted to leave Spotify but they didn't bother until now lol.

Recently, many musicians, such as Xiu Xiu, Deerhoof, and King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, have announced they are pulling all their music from Spotify, after the actions done by the current Spotify CEO. It's been quite surprising the amount of musicians willing to jump ship, especially one as all-encompassing as Spotify. I wanna hear your opinion about the situation, and if you have used this as an opportunity to switch to a different streaming service.
I didn't realize King Gizz were leaving Spotify. Cool on them

In one hand, I do want to stand by them, but on the other hand I do use Spotify here and there. I like Bandcamp, but on Spotify I can listen to podcasts and I also have some playlists that I had made on there that I listen to sometimes. I have an anime playlist on there which I will listen to here and there.

If anything, the least I could do is use Bandcamp more often and I already use Youtube quite a bit to listen to songs/playlists/albums even though Youtube definitely isn't perfect.

I just checked and wow, all their albums are gone from Spotify. It's kinda funny, because I was listening to their stuff on Spotify like a couple of days ago.

Spotify's been shit to smaller artists for a long time.
I finally dropped them a couple years ago.

Here's my setup
Youtube Music w/ ads blocked to discover
Bandcamp (or 7digital) to own

And, unrelated, because I've never listened to a podcast on spotify (can't imagine it's a good experience)
AntennaPod for podcasts

That way, I only give money to the artists themselves.
Speaking of which, tomorrow is bandcamp friday! Where bandcamp doesn't take their admin fee, it all goes to the artist.

Just remember.
Buy local, steal corporate.

Nothing is perfect, even perfection because it's impossible lol but I would rather still use Youtube for many reasons as a free user:

- Ads are not so bad for listening to music.
- Lyrics support.
- Video support.
- Lots of music you can never find on Spotify due to legal reasons.
- Spotify suck at regional availability. Lots of songs I care about cannot be listened to where I live.

In the end even as a paid user Spotify sucks ass, I call this "being mocked with your money" moment here lol.

All encompassing is funny. I don't have Spotify because not only do they not feature a lot of the artist I listen to, but the ones they do have they don't even have all of their music

Personally I've just been usin an old iPod and downloadin albums for the past few months, when I'm able to I buy merch or otherwise throw some money at artists I frequently listen to that alone is giving the artists more money than Spotify ever did.

With news of this, the general shittiness of spotify and now being forced to give a full face scan here in the UK now, local friends have been askin me to show them how where and how I get my music downloaded after months of "thats cool but idk spotify is just so much easier" ::eggmanlaugh

"Xiu Xiu, Deerhoof, and King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard"
I have no idea who these artists are (Sound like names a 8 year old would use in a MMORPG honestly) Not the point. I don't subscribe to or pay anyone. Let's say I acquire my music and media in ways that may or may not sidestep the full definition of "legal"

Yeah, legit that's why I started buying vinyls a few years ago.
I'm not currently in a place where artists I like tend to visit, and I'm also bad with crowds.
So if attending their shows isn't viable, guess I'll buy the vinyls! Which more often than not, also come with a digital download code. So it's a pretty decent option.

It does feel weird to listen to War Pigs on a platform run by a war pig.
I'm on my dad's family plan since 2009 or somthing, and he's mostly switched to Tidal a long time ago and only kept the Spotify thing because the rest of the family are so used to it.

piracy is the answer once again
artists shouldn't expect to make a fortune from music these days even if they have talent
Yeah especially when free AI music generators really produces decent stuff. This past year I writing me lyrics just to AI generate music for them. Finally a modern solution to my ancient musical hunger lol. I don't have to endure my bad singing voice so hard it always start to rain when I sing!!!! lolol
