Are you sick of AI slop on YouTube? What can we do about it??

No, but I draw the line on a video (won't post it) which is just the picture of a 9/11 victim seconds before boarding Flight 93 that only says "These are X's last moments" — the fuck's your problem?!

Also: one that was supposed to be this epic WW2 story but they ran out of free plan, so it's only the first 30 seconds of it LOL.

Not giving it attention or reposting it would probably help
This type of stuff gets millions of views anyway to be fair. That's why there's so many videos in a blank space with a talking stick figure that will confidently make shit up, lie, or mock victims while the title is "your life as a worm" or some shit

This will be my only post regarding AI, I've held my tongue on this after seeing these posts done multiple times.
I'm more sick of just seeing people bitch and complain about it. AI is here to stay, you either get over it or just leave the internet, gaming and any medium you enjoy. Because it's going to be used in everything, and at the same time is already being used for everything.
I get it, everyone is tired of seeing AI. But you honestly think corporations care what we think? They don't care about your feelings. The moment technology advanced to the point it's at, this was going to be inevitable.
So, like I said this will be my only post on this. Just getting this off my chest as I'm at a point to where the more I see people complain, then more I just stop giving a damn. We have games, anime, shows, movies, comics and so on that go back multiple decades. Pick those up. Do something else than complain about something that is NOT going away, even if/when the AI bubble bursts.

You can thumbs down it.

I am asking what else we can do

This.

But we also kind of need concrete examples, because the term is vastly generic.

Pick your poison, I guess.

best you can do is just report them and move on

YouTube is promoting the AI slop ahead of the original human touch stuff

Don't watch it, and raise awareness of issues surrounding generative AI and language models like enormous water and power usage if you know anyone who would listen. You can't make other people not watch it, but you can choose to not watch it yourself and try to convince others. I'm not strictly anti-generative AI, but its current growth is unsustainable and the less profitable it proves to be, the sooner corporations might scale things back.

It kind of annoys me that content creators who regularly have access to really great “objects” (like bakers, auto mechanics, travelers, etc.) have all started slapping that AI crap onto every stop frame, instead of just posting simple but pretty photos of baked goods, an engine, or a mountain lake :\

It looks especially silly in video compilations like “Lost Super Nintendo Platformers” where the still image shows generated graphics that the SNES simply isn’t capable of producing. Dude, just hit Printscreen!11

if you see this type of thumbnails, be ready for the most misinformative video

I understand the gripe. Although to be fair, I do enjoy some of the AI-generated Parody songs. I came across one the other day that's a heavy metal song with Hulk Hogan complaining about his dick hurting from an STD. I thought it was hysterical, so I used a free YouTube-to-mp3 ripping site to download it to my library..

i get being a bit sick of the outrage but i dont see why accepting defeat solves anything. People have the right to be upset about all this garbage.

they care about our money and seeing as they still have yet to make any from GenAI, i doubt this technology will be "inevitable". there were people who thought NFTs were the future and look what happened with that

remember to firebomb your local ai datacenter
HOLD IT! WAIT! NOT YET! I'M STILL STRIPPING IT FOR RAM CHIPS AND HDDS!!!

The saddest thing about all of this is, you can see their subscriber and view counts well into 10K, simply due to sheer amount of content they produce.

When OpenAI and Anthropic go public in a few months, things will slow down a little bit. They both currently operate at a loss, which isn't feasible post-IPO. They'll be increasing their prices and the technology will become less ubiquitous as a result. Also genAI is reaching its ceiling for certain use-cases (complex reasoning) which will also have an effect on the market, but that's a different topic.

AI generated thumbnails definitely annoys me like the first two examples...
yeah i tried everything to disable, hide, "don't recommend", and all doesn't help.
i was seeing FAKE comparison videos, like PS4 vs PC vs switch, etc.
and it was SO fucking annoying the entire channel was fake comparisons where sometimes wasn't even the RIGHT GAME, let alone they just threw a filter on one side. and AI voice
i reported, messaged youtube support and all and they said they'll look into it, it's still up there even now.

def when i start hearing an AI voice, i close the video

Click on the 3 dots below the thumbnail and select "don't recommend channel". That's what i do when youtube starts recommending me stuff i have zero interest in.
Sadly that only works for the main page feed recommendations, I noticied at least on my account that everytime I do that YT doubles down instead and starts recommend that exact channel I asked not to in the second recommendation list that usually appears bellow the video you are currently watching, y need to do the same in that list too afterwards but that option doesn't exist in the mobile version anyways.
To make matters worse, regardless of what you do they will keep insisting in pushing the same channels through other sneaky ways like playlists or Shorts.

In the old days, you could hurt a channel's visibility by not commenting since the lack of them also hurts visibility and removing them from your watch history but even these methods fall short nowdays
