Switch Are you buying the switch 2?

You know XenoX isnt gonna play in 4K right? Its gonna be upscaled to that resolution by your televisions resolution. You can make the game look better by connecting a MClassic on your 4k television with your Switch and it will look exactly the same. Better if you own a PC and it can run natively
Well yeah upscaling with DLSS technology is what I'm expecting. Also hoping they make use of the hidden 60 fps mode in XBCX game files on the Switch 2. Both of my PCs could easily run Ryujinx/Yuzu but I'm also after the online connectivity and the latest versions of Batocera doesn't come with Switch emulators anymore, but Super Mario World is looking good on a $1700 PC :p

This Switch 2 reminds me of the NES-SNES era. It's the same idea but better. Switch is gonna be available for quite some time, just like in the NES. So the development of games won't stop since the S1 is cheaper and will run the games much better.
The thing about pricing in the west is nuts-pure greed. In Japan the price is the closest to the real one ($350). It's a portable console and should be charged as such, the same goes for the games. The new Mario Kart is AA game in terms of production cost. Probably is just Nintendo being an awful winner, blinded by the 74 millions copies of Mario Kart 8.
I hope that console sells well, because in the future probably will be like a Vita in terms of homebrew.

Just gonna wait. I'm not really a Mario fan or Zelda fan for any of the announced titles. The only way I would drop the money for system and game is for a new F Zero. And it would have to be equal or better than F Zero GX.
"Look, that little 8 year old named Timmy has the last Switch 2 in stock!" Shoulder check Timmy, and slam money on counter saying "GIMME!" That's the only game that would excite me, and being that no new F Zero in years, I've given up hope....

I'm primarily a retro gamer, and I've owned every game console prior to the 7th generation at one point or another. These days I own a Genesis Modrl 1, the Wii, the Switch and a custom built PC. Frankly, I thought first party games and controllers on the Switch were expensive as it is compared to the majority of retro games, but this price increase takes the cake. And I bought my Switch for $150 used on eBay and all of my games used. At $450+ for the console and $80 per game, Switch 2 a no for me. I own the Switch N64 controller and subscribe to NSO and dont find myself really interested in most of the Switch games. I own Mario Odyssey, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Mario Party Superstars, Super Mario Wonder, and New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe. I really enjoyed these games, but outside of Luigi's Mansion 3 and Super Mario Party Jamboree, I can't say I'm really looking to pick up any other major Switch games at the moment. I'm having more fun with the likes of the N64 games and F-Zero 99.

What I loved about the Wii and 3DS was the Virtual Console, the affordability and accessibility of the games. I use my Wii with the NES and SNES classic controllers for wireless NES and SNES play. The fact that the Switch doesn't have all of the N64 games the Wii had is downright frustrating. I'm expecting the GameCube NSO is going to be another increased yearly cost plus the cost of the controller for the right to watch them release 3 games a year for the next 5-6 years. I'd rather just hunt for deals on another Wavebird and play Gamecube games on the Wii. Advertising Wind Waker on the GameCube NSO when the HD version is still sitting on WiiU and should have been ported? That's crazy.

The idea of buying yet another console and more controllers for the equivalent of a game streaming service where we have to wait literal years to play games that came out 20+ years ago feels like an upcharge compared to even paying increased prices on the secondary market. And the modern games at $80, many of which being upgraded Switch games just doesnt do it for me. The Switch is almost certainly my last video game console.

Wait what? Am I missing something? I thought they said you can play all your Switch games on Switch 2. At least the exclusives. You just have to pay the extra 20 to upgrade them to 120fps 4K. Please tell me that all my old games are playable...
sorry if its already been answered, switch 2 offers what seems to be partial emulation/dynamic recompilation of switch games. most games work but some dont. It is awork in progress and nintendo are being pretty transparent regarding what is currently working. It IS a massive game library.

I am gonna wait for now and maybe buy in the future if things improve. The main thing I am concerned about is the game prices. I don't mind dropping a pretty penny for the console itself as a one time purchase. I spent way more on my first PC which lasted me roughly 10 years until just a year or so ago when I replaced it with a similarly pricey build.

But if game prices continue to creep up, that concerns me a bit more since there will always be new games I want to buy, and those extra dollars will add up the more I play. I was ready for a $70 standard, but $80 for Mario Kart has thrown me for a loop. I vaguely remember watching a video that cited an interview with Doug Bowser where he was saying that their game prices aren't a new standard and is more variable based on the amount of effort and quality of the game, but that doesn't help for me unless they confirm that it means some game will be priced cheaper.

If a high price tag is reserved only for their big heavy hitter games like Mario and Zelda, while most games are $70 and some even dipping below that, then maybe I will be able to stomach it, but I suspect that $70 is the new standard and they are going to be pushing for higher than that because from their perspective every game is made with an immense amount of effort and quality, including their tech demo game, which you must pay for.

Add on to this the fact that there are still Switch 1 games yet to be released, and I have plenty of older games to play between all my other consoles, my PC, and emulation, I may just be catching up on my back log this generation.

I don't think I will. The problems I have is the overpriced games and some games getting empty physical cartridges that only have download codes on them.

even the exclusives arent enough for me. unless they retroactively lower the price of games, ill probably pass, unless the third party game prices are better. thatd be about the only thing barring lower first party prices that could win me over. like if duskbloods is $60 that would certainly tempt me, as i am quite a souls fan, especially bloodborne. another possibility is if nintendo actually puts their games on sale for decent rates, but im highly doubtful of that

It's being reported by Bloomberg that Nintendo is selling the console at a loss. How is that greed?

It's 50,000 yen; If you're living in Japan and earning yen than that's $500. It's only $350 if you're somehow earning USD. Exchange rates mean nothing in a vacuum, and as the dollar continues to tank this gap will continue to get smaller every day.

Not true. You keep distorting things to suit your fan-boy narratives. Why not dropping the BS fan-boy thing and be factual instead?
At Loss - after the tariffs, which are applicable to the US, so not-at-loss out of the US. And these tariffs can stay forever or be gone by tomorrow or the day after. Nobody knows.
The chip they are using in these consoles (last gen = ps4), costs them $150.

You're the one distorting things; this has absolutely nothing to do with the politics in your country.

It's being reported that the BOM is $400 for the Switch 2. On top of that is additional cost for assembly, provisioning, QA testing, packaging, shipping the product from the factories to retailers around the world, storing in warehouses, retailers take a cut on the sale, etc etc. The total cost per console will be over $450, which means they're selling it at a loss. And if there's tarrifs on top of that, than there will be a further loss unless the price is raised.

Maybe you should stop distorting widely reported news to feed your hate-boner.

What?!? What politics? What are you talking about?

Very honestly, are you 5 years old? This is becoming a bit ridiculous - your childish console wars framing, or whatever, distorting facts and comments, extreme fan-boyism, almost at a religious level (as if a billionaire corporation needed his help - this one or any other)...

Everyone can read what has been commented and the article. I have shared the link.

Here's a friendly advice: stop it, and stick to the facts. They are in the money business and it's okay if you like their products (nothing wrong with that), but you don't have to fabricate an alternative reality to help them selling consoles.
Enjoy your games

From what we've seen so far from the big reveal, With tons of games getting announced to new features of the device, there were some dealbreakers for most of us, pricing, features, capabilities and more

are you gonna buy it still ? If no, what's your Dealbreaker, and what's one thing Nintendo can do to win you over ?

Yes, I've skipped buying the Switch w/dock for years and years, and FINALLY, this is what I've actually been waiting for. The games look rad af, and the console seems tight from specs to design.

I already have a Switch 1 I never play with almost 400GB of games on it. Why would I want two of the them?

Its Friday GIF by HBO Max
Crappy Discord knockoff, the special edition cam does 480p, same UI, paid tech demo to learn how the system works, the upgrades should BE FREE, the disrespect towards people not buying the Switch 2 "to play Switch", a Switch emulator to play Switch games since they're LAZY AS HELL towards compatibility for Switch 2 natively, their past history of disrespecting their consumers from the Etika joycons, to shutdown tournaments from a mod, DMCA a fan book about Earthbound, the fanboys sucking up for Nintendo what they been doing for YEARS, emulator takedowns since they do it themselves eventhough they're hypocrites since they been caught emulating, etc. I about to stick to my PC, indies, and retro.

Physical not being the same price as digital and drming with keys instead putting the game on a bigger cartridge. Nintendo is BEING LAZY and nickel and diming everything for LESS PRODUCT!

I don't trust Nintendos online Store, the Games are tied even more to it, so i am out.
Mario Odyssey didn't excite me as Mario 3D World did, other Nintendo Games also leaved me cold somehow.
Most of them that i liked, i already had on the Wii U.
I rather buy on Gog and if not otherwise possible, on Steam.
The later one has at least several Years of Service and is more on the Customer Side.

Not even the bull ass shit Yakuza 0 port or Metroid Prime 4 can get me to blow that much on a Nintendo console that'll be underpowered in 2 years with 30 minute lasting sticks. Can't fool me twice.
