I heard the Simpsons became good again since season 32 but most of the episodes released since that season have mixed reviews so I dont know. People might say that because of the fact the old latino dub cast came back in that same season

This question will probably be asked until the heat death of the universe and all I can ever say “ask waffles”

It's hard to say.

I have enjoyed some episodes, but I feel that the showrunners have fallen on the ultimate trap: trying to recapture the magic of older seasons instead of keeping the creative process going. Some of the best episodes of the last few years felt like poor versions of classic offerings.

I can believe this team still has the power to entertain, but it's a tired formula.

EDIT: The fact that Disney has pretty much taken the show off TV doesn't help, either.

I have watched episodes in 3 languages so I don't mind voice actors changes.
The new episodes just aren't funny to me.
No, they don't even make sense as stories. Random things happen it's like they were written by a blender with nouns and verbs inside.

Seasonal Rot. the inevitable curse of any series that reaches its natural end. everything has a limit on how far it can go, and then it must end. every idea will be done, new characters added in to keep relevancy with the ever changing viewer, reader, player demographic; only to no avail. nothing can be done to stop it.

it sucks, but we have to accept it.

enjoy the episodes that you like once in a while, and look for new and older shows to enjoy.

The Simpsons died for me in season 10; even keeping the same voices for south america up to season 15 iirc, after 10 the jokes became stupid. I don't really care about new season really.
I have memorized so much dialogues and the best thing is to find a simpsomaniac friend with who you can go throwing simpsons phrases to every situation in life.

The change of voice actors really killed it for me.

In the extremely accurate words of Zach Handlen: "it was like a stranger trying to sound like a friend".

i think everyone agrees that season 10 is the end of the golden era. season 1 is ignored, season 2-10 is super awesome, and then everything varies after that.

The Simpsons were developed as the caricature of the American Suburban Nuclear family. They literally have 2.5 kids, cat, dog. Homer works at the Nuclear Plant. Now, it has been a long time since the late 80s, and the Simpsons have drifted so far from it's original intent that it's not even the same show. Sort of reverse South Park, where it got better as it distanced itself from its original intent.

I mean, it's probably getting better then it has been, but it will never be what it was, as that lightning has been let out of that broken bottle long ago.

But Homer being able to afford his own house + two cars and a family of six (including grandpa's retirement home) on a single paycheck? Now, that's comedy.
You could do that in the 50-80s. He is in a Union. I'm in a Union, I'm waiting on Job where I get 175 bucks just to show up, and then like $30/hr to look like i'm Carrying a solor panel.

I haven’t watched any of the new stuff, but I saw a video on the recent “What If?” ending episode and it seemed like the show has become really unbearably self-aware. Is that a thing in the new episodes — that they’re always calling back to the golden age and referencing the show itself? Because that’s something that will make me never watch it again.

The fake “Season finale” with Conan O’Brien was a good one most recently. I watched every single ep not too long ago and while it does get boring later on, it’s been on an uptick in critiquing capitalism and boomers.

Basically the exact stuff Waffles was talking about.
