This has been on my mind for a while.

Thought I’d get this forum’s opinion since this is a pretty solid space for true retro enthusiasts.

Goes without saying you should be as generous or as honest about the games as you feel like.

Discuss.

Well Rayman 2 ps1 mustbve been done by someone not that familiar with the ps1 while having to rish it, because it's like 2\3rds of the game + it has worse framerate, its like an early beta
It does have the nice new hub world and voice acting so at least its worth a play for that

I actually heard that Glover for the PS1 is pretty good? I'm not familiar with Rayman 2, however.

I can't really say much for Glover's PS1 port, but I'd say Rayman 2's PS1 port is more "flawed" than bad. It is worse than the originals for obvious reasons (missing levels, missing tracks, poorly optimized frame rate) but it's still luckily enjoyable on its own. Which is more than I can say for Rayman 2's PS2 version which had a lot more weird choices (even in the game's design).

Rayman 2 ps1 is inferior overall due to cut content, but it has a few extras that makes it worth playing once at least. It even has a new boss battle.

Glover PS1 has imo much better controls and personally I like its ps1-style aesthetics better, although the performance is worse.

The rayman 2 port it's not that bad but it cuts half of the game that's why is not the fist option people choose when they play Rayman 2. But one very cool thing is that it has the prototype version of Rayman 2 as an unlockable.

And with glover on PSX the port has the whole game but the framerate is very bad (it runs almost like the shadowman psx port) also the psx adds this control showcase on the screen

I think Glover and Rayman 2 wasn't as bad, it is at least playable
Maybe it was kinda rushed because of…you know? Schedules?
It depends though, despite some unfair levels and difficult controls

Given how every port of Rayman 1 was radically different, maybe the Rayman 2 ports were actually artistic choices.

The PS1 was sorely lacking in free-roam scrimblo platformers. If Rayman 2 was a lousy port we didn't care. The alternatives were Gex, Blasto or Gay Dinosaur With Tank Controls. There's only so much Spyro a man can take after all.
Bugs Lost In Time was ludo but too little to late.
So gimme all your janky, rushed, single-digit FPS ports, yearning to be played and replayed.

I played Rayman 2 awhile ago and to be honest the ps1 version is more streamline than any other version. Theres no alternative paths to explore like in the N64 version and they move the living dead level next to mernill hills, also the second phase of the final boss is WAY BETTER than whatevrr stupid shit they did in the dreamcast version.
