Are MOBAs actually even fun?

MOBAs are not fun, the fun part is dominating and make mad your opponent.
If you are into that sort of gameplay.

I personally love deadlock. I feel like you just have to not care very much to truly enjoy it though, do your best, have some good games and when people are toxic you can just goof on voice.

I havent played any, but i'm sure that if people keel playing them is bc they are fun

Nah, I hate these games. So they all suck. Fax. (no sarcasm (: )

I could never get into the genre personally. I understand the fun, but it's not worth it for me.

I played a bit of Deadlock when that first had closed beta invites, and I kinda liked it. Came back to it like 2 months ago cause me and my buddy wanted to see how it was doing. Don't think I'm gonna play that again lol. I'm not too good at Multiplayer games unless it's like Quake or something.

i think is relies on player itself.
Well, not so for other games expect the OGs like dota, league and crap-less mobile games.
For me, i don't like how i have to learn bunch characters not to hit and aware of cd, gold rush shenanigans, i couldn't give my time for. yeah i won for my time wasted.

Heavily competitive, and stressful, and lots of douchebags play it. I remember there was this one guy who made it his life mission to troll these types of ppl by doing everything wrong to piss them off, and act completely oblivious and putting it on YT.

I find the fun in MOBAs similar to the fun in Fighting Games where I just enjoy learning them and seeing myself improve little by little, much like improving at a shmup or something but with other people involved. Seeing an interaction I don't understand, getting my ass beat, labbing said interaction then having an answer for it the next time I run into it. It's just awesome I think, I love learning I LOVE GAMES.

Coming from Overwatch, I freaking love Deadlock.
But you definitely need a tough skin and a cool temper to play it long term.
On days where I just wanna relax, I'll do street brawl - ... or just play TF2 instead haha.

I think they can be fun if you're not trying to hit certain ranks or if you play in moderation, and if you can handle not having all the things. I play Pokemon UNITE and I don't really care if I win or lose, I occasionally play Ranked and never really gun for higher than reaching Veteran by the end of a season or completing the battle pass if I pay for it, and mostly it's something relaxing to play when I don't have the energy to invest myself into something that would require more of my attention like a narrative-focused game.

I think it helps that it's not League, so the matches have a timer and don't go on forever, but I also like Wild Rift, which also has a timer. Both games have limited chat features too, so you're not being drowned in toxic sludge anytime you do anything slightly off-meta.

Both have pretty predatory cash shops though, which is why I think to be able to enjoy them you either have to be loaded with money or be okay with not having all the skins and pretty things. MOBAs definitely are not for everyone.

I enjoy playing deadlock with friends, that’s kind of where it ends for me though. There’s a lot of people throwing slurs around in those games and jumping at the chance to blame you or each other for your team losing.

I've seen a lot of different thoughts regarding this thread I started. They're all very interesting and at times funny takes on MOBAs as a genre. I did some more searching into myself regarding this question I had and more or less came to the conclusion that I don't like MOBAs because of the item management.

Something about the item management combined with having to do the more action RPG attack defense stuff just felt like it doesn't actually jell together all that well IMO. I kind of realized this when I decided to try out Command & Conquer and came away not liking it at all. I realized that in general, if a game is a strategy game I want as much time to make my decision and rather not get butt fucked by Swarms McGee who already built 70 units in three minutes.

I think the closest thing to a MOBA I played was Monday Night Combat, which I both loved and miss. Really great series that has since been forgotten and taken offline

'>' i can say gameplay wise and other aspect there's a lot single player game you can play and have more fun.

The only plus i see when i play MOBA was doing some shenanigans with my friends or ragebaiting somone. I mean i was a Garen OTP just because i wanna play league with WASD and no mouse.

I enjoyed my time in Heroes of the Storm playing the 'wrong' mode. VS AI Coop is basically five humans against five CPU players. In almost all of the matches I did over a couple of years there, I very rarely never had anyone get shitty... or really, talk at all for the most part. It's kind of astonishing given the reputation MOBAs have, but maybe all of the people you'd expect to be playing were in other modes.

I have no idea if it's still this way or not after the greatly exaggerated rumors of its death, though. VS AI solo isn't worth it since an update a few years ago broke the AI to where they'd do absolutely nothing unless pinged which meant they'd only follow you instead of spreading out or doing objectives. Of course, enemy AI performs just fine!
