Are boiled eggs that have been in the fridge fully shelled still ok to eat?

I have some boiled eggs in the fridge from weeks ago sitting there, they seem ok, but i am wondering if i should eat them?

Do the floating test to see if they are still good.

What a story, mark.

Don’t eat ‘em, matey! Cooked eggs only last in the fridge for a day or two at most. Call for pizza tonight, instead. 👍
Only 1 or two days? That's a little on the paranoid side for hardcooked, that is more for scrambled/omlettes etc. USDA says up to a week. I imagine they last longer because bacteria can only grow on the surface and this also makes spoilage more obvious: if you don't notice any any discoloration or smell, they should be ok. Scrambled and such you shouldn't push past 3 days because it can be harder to notice if they have gone bad and there is more "places" for bacteria to grow.

I wouldn't risk it. Are you really that desperate for food that you would eat week old boiled eggs? Even if they don't give you food poisoning they'll still taste like shit.

Eat it, if you don't post anything in this thread by tomorrow, that means it was not okay.

My research to back up what I said about this eggcellent question...

Source is USDA, so take from that what you will.

I ate it, not choice no time for shopping. Didn't taste too bad, but i had to soak them in salt before hand still in shell.

The eggs tasted ok, didn't have many problems. I think the shell being sealed may have helped, as i know this is the kind of stuff they do with century eggs, and they have been in a plastic bag in fridge for up to months.

I will let you know if i get a tummy upset, but so far so good.

If it smells especially terrible, it's probably not safe. You'd know immediately on opening it and biting into it.

You should be careful though. It can make you terribly ill. Like vomiting nonstop for hours ill.

You can always shell them ahead of time and keep them in an airtight container. Makes it way less of a chore to consume them and you're less likely to waste them.

Smell was not too bad, but i think soaking them in salt water helped. But i think the biggest factor is the shells being sealed with no cracks.

Cracks in shell does not matter. If you live in US, eggs are washed so bacteria can enter through the shell (it is porous) even uncracked which is why you need to refrigerate them in the first place. In Europe, they are unwashed which is why they can leave them out, but cooking removes this regardless. You will be fine, but it is because hard cooked eggs last about 1 week with proper refrigeration. I would not have pushed it 2 days more though, even if they still smell ok.

Thanks for the response. In my case it was around 2 weeks old, which is why i posted.
But i have eaten century eggs that have been a month or more old, even tea eggs, but these eggs are in individual plastic sealed bags.

You can make these at home, but the long life ones may have a chemical process i am not aware of....yet.

Hay, in the general sense i agree with you, 100%.

But there are reasons these products exist. There has to be a science, as a ton of people eat them and they are fine.

This is eaten by Asians allot and i should know, i am one of them. Just never made them myself and then wondered about what i had int he fridge.

Again, this could end badly, so far so good though, heading towards the 24 hours, i would may be give it 3 days.

So i guess posting here will be to notify to you guys if i lived. ^^::
