Anyone learning a new skill this year?

i love those guitars, theyre really freaking cool
Thank you! They're lightweight and ergonomic, I'm switching to all instruments of that style because of my chronic fatigue. I'm able to play longer and less likely to have a crash after. Had to sell a lot of my traditional guitars but worth it to enjoy playing music!

i've always wondered, how do you string them? they look so funky without a proper neck with all the normal tuning pegs on them. i can see they have those lil tuning bolts at the top, but im still scratchin my head at how you actually string them up xD

I'm learning how to make my own clothes! I've always abhorred shopping for myself and it's mainly because I have a non-standard body type that's difficult to shop for. The things I want to wear just don't fit right.

Plus, I want to experiment with outlandish colors, textures, and patterns. Trendy clothes just aren't weird enough for me.

Each headless guitar does it a little differently!

For the Strandbergs, they go through a hole in the bridge a lot like a normal guitar. Then they go through the posts, secured in place by the 2 allen screws, and you simply clip the string.

On my Eart, it's actually backwards. The ball end is held in a hole at the head of the instrument, and the remaining length of string goes into a winding post on the bridge.

I'm still early in the process: I've been learning seam techniques (French, serge, baby, etc), pattern design, and textile theory. Once I have something presentable, I'll be happy to share ::coolstafy

Yeah, you just twist the tuners there to tune it!

Are you using a sewing machine? I make clothes too but I hand sew because I don't own one. It's really fun making your own clothes. I plan to make some custom shoes. Lots of things.

Love this. We need more weird in the world. The harmless, vibrant, exciting kind of weird, to break up all the dull, normal stuff.

this is a little bit embarrassing for me, but this year i plan to teach myself to drive
and then finally get my license (and a cool af car)
i taught myself to ride a bike when i was 13 so i think i can do it!
It's nothing to be embarrassed about! I was a late learner myself because I lived in a city with solid public transportation. Good luck and drive safe ::peacemario
