Anyone know the first ever game they ever downloaded as a ROM for an emulator?

From memory, I think it was F-Zero for one of the early GBA emulators. I may downloaded Snes9x but the GBA holds in the memory

The first one I ever got was X-Men vs Street Fighter on mame, took hours on dialup. Prior to that, a neighbor had provided all of the stuff I had emulation-wise. So I don't know what year it was, but pre-2000 anyway, if I had to guess?

Pokemon Red around the time it had taken over my middle school. I forget where from, or on which emulator, but I was using my dad’s second-hand Pentium 1 with a sketchy 56k modem. It was a godsend, cause it was all my friend’s were talking about, and I couldn’t afford a Gameboy/games. Wasn’t till I found Link’s Awakening that I really fell in love though.

Mmmm i remember thinking 'oh this is a thing!' when the Genesis emulators for MS-DOS were coming out (~1995). Games i had were limited to, Shadowrun, Echo the dolphin, Phantasy Star 4.

As for the NES, probably SMB3 and Megaman 2-4.

(Remember Dial-up...speeds of up to 5k/s, though more like 3.5k/s)

Though, i do recall also getting Atari800 disks too. But mostly through the approved emulator and disks, which probably would include Castle Wolfenstein & Questron...

It was Pokémon Red from emuparadise. The website is virtually defunct now, but they still have an active Discord server.

FIFA Street 2 for the PSP, had loads of fun times with it

My first experience with emulation was buying burned discs with emulators and roms already on them for my Dreamcast way back in 2001ish. From there I began using emulators on my PC. I can't remember my first rom specifically, too far back now.

Pokémon Gold in a non human language (2000/2001)

Mine's Mike Tysons Punch Out emulated with an early version of Nesticle. That damn emulator works, but it sucks ass. It's like playing on a dirty cartridge.

The first individual ROM I downloaded was Castlevania Circle of the Moon to play on some early GBA emulator. Before that I had only played emulators from discs which came with ROM packs (I had a CD with ZSNES and a PS1 disc with imbNES).

God I love Finder's "newest first"
Though keep in mind, this computer originally had booting problems and had to be wiped last year so I don't truly know what the first was. But post Factory Settings, it's drumroll
wait wtf, it's Armored Core: Last Raven Portable?

It was also on OpenEmu

The old fan translation of fe6, the one where the name was translated as sword of seals instead of binding blade. i dont remember the website, but it was sketchy and i still wonder how i didnt get a virus

It was Pokemon Stadium 2. I had the first game but really wanted to play 2 and even though retro games weren't expensive like they are today it was still out of reach for me as a kid (and I never saw it for sale anyway). Wanting to play that game is actually how I discovered emulators.
