Anyone following the drama with Steam and the credit card companies trying to censor games?

This is the kind of news that not only leaves me completely discouraged but also saps any remaining hope for humanity.

The most advanced species on planet Earth can't do anything but get into silly fights and destroy things?

God, you know I hate you, but could you please drop fifty meteors on planet Earth?

I meant even buy option exist but when it comes to payment you can't so I heard.
I'm not going to buy a game I don't need to find out, but from what I've experienced, when a game isn't available for purchase on steam, you're not even given a dollar amount or the option to advance it. It surfaces this text:

Unless they changed that and think it's funny to fake people out, but they're a business. Why would they.

Yeah that's the situation I was talking about. Game is not technically removed from the store, so no need to bother removing them, but this payment processor BS make some people can't buy particular games so I heard.

Meaning, you can't buy a game via Mastercard and Visa but they are not the only way to buy games on Steam for there are other payment networks. For example if all payment networks fails you may also directly use your bank or Steam Wallet instead and if you can't you can't buy the game. Just because certain games cannot be bought on Steam they won't remove games even to that country when this situation doesn't have to be a permanent issue and people can still pay via Steam Wallet so instead of directly buying a game via Visa or Mastercard people buy Steam Wallet -> buys wanker games lol.

Only heard about it from you and that other closed thread.

I don't care much if porn games burn in hell or not to me i see it as double edge on one hand that dude is wasting his life on virtual women , on the other hand while that dude is busy wanking to pixels he isn't out there looking for a partner so less dudes and more girls = higher % of finding a partner.

Now if you see it this way keeping porn games ensures many people sacrifice their lives for the void but if you aren't one of them you are winning so ::crack-bandicoot

Its simple to me. Regardless of how I may feel about porn games, I believe in freedom of choice in the marketplace. And I also believe in freedom of religion. No one has the right to impose their religion or moral code on someone else in a free society. As long as crimes aren't being committed in the making of these games, these games should be allowed to be sold. No one is forcing you to buy them, so why would you care if someone else plays them?

You lost me with the bit in the end there, but I guess I'll take your word for it
First: https://store.steampowered.com/steamaccount/addfunds

Then: https://store.steampowered.com/app/3615080/Ass_Sniffing_Simulator/

> Game being bought without Visa/Mastercard
>profit lol

But then some other issue may happen: Bank forcing a chargeback when they saw one of their client bought a wanker game. They may have changed their terms of use so doing so may mean termination of your account, paying some money as punishment and even jail time lol.

Valve hates chargebacks so much they directly prevent your Steam account from ever able to buy anything unless very specific conditions are met and you prove you are innocent and it's all your banks fault.

While i'm generally not someone who cares about any of the types of games banned and for that matter i'm a anti-porn person in general, i'll never agree with this being handled by payment processors, they should NOT have the ability to tell people what they can and cannot buy.

Am i anti-porn?Yes.
But to me, the PEOPLE must decide this either through voting or through personal action, not a few people with some political power, never trust the government or banks, both will screw you over if given a chance.

You are not anti enough lol.

The whole topic is weird mix off BS sense of morality and lack of mature POV for life, like some guy says "if you break Nintendo's rules of course they will sue you" but then if you break payment processors' rules they are not obligated to allow you to use their services. In a way it seems like entering a cafe that doesn't allow people to kiss. If you use a service you gotta obey the rules of service provider or they can refuse to offer their services. That's the way it is. And then people bring laws to it. Companys may can set their own rules as long as it's not illegal, so if they don't want you to use their service to buy wanker games that's their rules that's like "no farting in my house" rule which not illegal per se but gives the owner of the house to set the rule and ask you to get out because of it.

So this topic does not bring "my money my rule" idea but the necessity of being able to pay without asking permission of banks and payment networks which Web 3.0 technology will solve this issue lol. While they can set their rules this is bad for business that calls for payment networks that doesn't operate like a church lol.

I may be wrong about this, but as far as I know this is an unprecedented use of power by the payment processors. Before they were viewed as a middle man who exchanged YOUR OWN MONEY for goods and services. But the middle man rarely intervened except in some extreme cases (like if you were buying illegal chemical weapons in the dark web or some crazy shit like that).

The important part to keep in mind is that this is YOUR MONEY being handled by these goons in the payment processors. They have no right to impose their morality on whatever you choose to buy, especially if it isn't illegal in the country you live in. This is a dangerous overreach by these companies that could lead to some bad outcomes, so we must nip this in the bud now before they ruin the game industry.

You contradict yourself in the same sentence that you say something often, it's really hard to follow a lot of time. If crypto becomes the go-to in the future like in the Web3, that won't change anything either considering a lot of blockchain applications and interfaces aren't decentrazlied at all. Most are owned by one of the same 4 or 5 companies which is why I find people hyping up crypto as this catch all solution strange.

Crypto is never going to replace banks. Best case scenario it becomes like another Paypal alternate payment solution, but eventually government will get involved and impose regulations on them. It won't be this unchecked market forever.

Steam should just have an optional 'fork' that holds all these games. It's separate and age verified, and the card companies can stop trying to censor people. Idk man.

Exactly, it's something I've always found strange of crypto people trying to hype it up as the solution to any and all financial issues like this.

Its another form of zealotry. Some people worship gods, other people worship tech as the solution to all of life's problems.

You getting so annoying with your self-entitlement justifcations and you talk about stuff you can't comprehend and BS anyway. I don't contradict myself, you hit yourself in confusion like a pokemon lolol. My dude believe his opinion changes the nature of reality wow. Whole truth is pointless if my guy believes in otherwise.

Web 3.0 payment due to the way it's Web 3.0 won't be owned by anyone. It will be your money's digital existence that doesn't need payment network to be useful so you'll just select your money -> select what you wanna buy and that's it.

It seem like you saying "factories cannot produce a product in useful state while a human can make it properly for sure because factories before had problems" and I say "make it properly and it won't cause and issue and they will work better than humans" lol. You believe world as you know it will always remain, you can't see the change and what kind of possibility it can take. Poor you. "No one will watch TV when radio is superior because you can carry radio everywhere!!!!". Shit I heard such BS many times and now people live in an impossible future they couldn't dream of lolol.

Instead of slamming labels and shit try to understand people once but your fundamental problem is you have no idea what you talking about and you rely on your lack of knowledge to make your points lolol. Keep this shit up and I'll slam "ignore".

I'm not sure how half of that stuff even applies to me, but okay. I'm not here to get into a weirdly personal fight over this about how I slam labels on things or something.

My guy has no self-awareness lolol.

Censorship is always bad. I don't care who's behind it, it's always bad. It's been those on both sides of the political aisle, those using religion, etc., trying to censor games over the years. This was a huge debate during GTA: San Andreas and Hot Coffee in the 2000's.

I mean if there was no demand they would be no product I'm i wrong? Because people wanted to beat their meat and play a game they came up with porn games.

Throughout the years there was lots of uproars about video games whether it was hot coffee in GTA SA or Diablo or postal or mortal combat this might just be another one of these , but people will find many ways to push back anyway human determination can't be stopped and especially when it comes to gooning in this day and age ::eggmanlaugh

we are violent sexual creatures and we should embrace it in it's entirety instead of suppressing it like god and nature intended

Unprecedented doesn't mean it can't happen. Just like a store can choose not to sell things in its stores, payment processors can apparently be like this as well. They're a private business too, it's just that a company like Stripe has a far bigger net cast over things and have been relatively uninvolved before this. So to that end, if they say they don't approve transactions involving x or y, that's their right even if it seems like backwards thinking to a lot of us.

But again, these are the kinds of things that don't stick for long. Management changes, shifts in focus as a company, and so on. I just recently was surfaced a video on YT about how they're not being strict about harsh language on monetized videos, but two years ago that was super not the case. Things change. The sky isn't falling.

Lets hope its a temporary thing. As it has been proven in this thread, there are a lot of religious nuts in this world that have no problem on imposing their morality on other people. And yet they are the first to complain whenever the government imposes rules that go against their religion. They don't see the hypocrisy of their beliefs because they are lost in the sauce of fanaticism. They want to claim moral superiority when in reality they are the uncivilized ones because they have no respect for other people's beliefs.
