Anyone fan of Kaiji or other Fukumoto works?

Only read the first chapter, and it seems very interesting. Me (22) finding a 44-year-old relatable is pretty concerning though

Strongest Man Kurosawa was ahead of its time, it seems perfect for 2025 when many are struggling with ever getting really started in life. I read it at least 10 years ago and was young too but I got what it was going for. At first it seemed like a manga 40 Year-Old Virgin, but it's a lot more than that. There's great comedy but there's still a real story and a point.

I absolutely love Kaiji. I've ended the E-Card battle and I absolutely loved the psychological battles.

Should I skip Akagi until the Washizu Mahjong arc then swap to the manga for its end?

I liked the first part of the second anime but the second (and main event) kinda dragged for too long.

I still loved it despite the bittersweet ending.

My next step is the Akagi anime then I'll probably prepare the Washizu arc via the manga for 2026.

On a side note: one of my favourite "battles" in Kaiji may be the e-card one against Tonegawa simply because

it vastly reminded me of when Yugi fought against Maximilian Pegasus in the end of the Duelist Kingdom arc (especially regarding when he could almost read his opponent's mind thanks to a device):

Since the anime stops at the middle of the Washizu arc (2005 whereas the manga ended it 12 years later in 2017) I have to continue reading it like that
