Both Akagi and Kaiji are in my top 5 favorite manga of all time.
The other three are Bobobo, OPM (ONE’s webcomic version) and Cromartie Highschool

Kaiji is super funny and crazy. I tried to watch Akagi but it was all Mahjong and didn't understand anything. Maybe I will watch it again to play the minigame in the old Yakuza games.

I think all the autor writes are a reflection of new generations being abused by old ones? At least Kaiji was about boomers being trolled by rich old mens that used The Bubble to be even more rich or something like that.

I really like Kaiji, has some really cool mind games, and some very creative ways of playing games. There are some Kaiji Touhou crossover doujins which are hilarious as well.

As for Akagi, haven't seen it, all I know, its the eternal Mahjong arc.

Good taste. I haven't read the other three, but I might check them out. Funny how all of them have funny but unique artstyle.

I forgot to mention Ten
I imagine you’ll love Ten if you already enjoy kaiji

I joined Kaiji after seeing a Chilean Reviewer review it, (six years before the Squid Game was a thing) i find refreshing the tone of the anime means you legitimally doubt if the Mc will win

I'm a fan of some Fukumoto works, but I've never ready any of the mahjong stuff, and I also recommend everyone check out his non-mahjong work. A really good 10-volumes series is Legend of the Strongest Man Kurosawa, about a middle-aged man with no friend, no girlfriend, and a dead-end construction job doing all he can to change his situation. It's got comedy, drama and a little action, and goes to unexpected places. Some scenes from this series have stuck in my mind for years.

I'm a really big fan of Akagi, for a simple reason...

I am learning Mahjong right now through Mahjong Souls to actually understand Akagi and part 3 of Kaiji, but it's just so complex! So many rules.
