Enthusiasm seems split atm, where some saying the developer is notorious for basically pump/dumping every game they've worked on, loaded with bunch of p2w/gatcha stuff. But Square Enix have said there will be no p2w, but only $$$ for stuff like costumes. Maybe some of the naysayers have spoken too soon, than again, who knows. Looks very promising.

Insofar as FF14 on PC, this is exactly as it's gone. DLC is all optional stuff and mostly cosmetics, and the most anyone has to pay for is a subscription. I could imagine the mobile MMO being similar, and I have a feeling fans would be up in arms otherwise. Especially if they started charging for stuff, given how normal FF14 did its DLC model.

how many gigs is it gonna take up?
This is a good question, and if mobile would affect performance. I don't like touch controls, but I could see keybindings for an MMORPG working dece on mobile? I suppose if games like Genshin Impact could do amazingly on mobile, why not another FF14?

Ahahahaaaaaaaaa *wheeeeeeze* Is anybody actually still cares about FF franchise after XII?
If it's about the MMO, then yeah. The Pixel Remasters did dece as well, if I recall correctly.

Eh, its whatever. Personally I've wanted a private server for the longest time, maybe ARR only, because HW had some of the worst raiding ever, and i cant imagine doing it again.

>Can't add more content to pc version
>Can't fix items to make them more than stat sticks.
>Can't fix jobs to make them play better and in more ways
>Can't fix fights so that they are more than memorization
>CAN make mobile version

What a baffling company.

To be fair, it isn't SE that's making this game. It's some third party Chinese company. SE are just publishers.

I’m not particularly excited but it’s been neat seeing footage from it. I’m kind of tired of the game right now so I don’t really care too much. It’ll be kind of fun to see how it evolves, because I have a lot of nostalgia for the ARR era of the game.

The mobile game is its own separate game, so it’ll have its own combat system. No need to worry about MMO controls.
Here’s a development screenshot showing off the HUD:

1. I dont know what you mean by cant add more content to PC version. XIV is more successful than XI, and look how much content was added to XI even when it was getting absolutely roflstomped by WoW.

2. Items being stat sticks, i think thats just the nature of the beast, a problem nearly every MMORPG has.

3. Im definitely unhappy with how they've handled jobs. Overtime every class has lost alot of what made it feel special, in their quest to make sure no class is left behind, they essentially made every tank, healer, or DPS, play about the same. Its really only the DPS that have any kind of uniqueness now.

4. It is alot of memorization and choreograph, but the problem with having too much RNG in fights is that the clears lack consistency. Imagine your raid party getting RNG carried one week, and then being absolutely walled the next week because RNG isnt in your favor.

They’ve been very creative with encounters in DT at least, even in casual content which I appreciate. Lots of cool new chaotic mechanics that spices things up.

Even before that, we had the Rathalos fight that has alot of randomness, so its not like they havnt done stuff that isnt just memorization

I do like how they moved away from EW’s ”every boss does three things, then at the end they do all three things at once” which was cool maybe once, and instead added stuff like the Honey B hearts and that one boss in that Lv 100 Halloween themed dungeon and stuff like that. Makes you think on your toes for once.::thumbsupwario

XIV mattered to me because of the community it once had and how amazing they made it to play the game, the same goes for XI. Replaying old content with out that community misses the point of what an MMORPG is meant to be about. It's an exercise in futility, ultimately it's just designed to milk money from mainland China where gacha type games and mobile is as common as the air we breathe. And I think it's sad they're using something that once special to me to do that.

To that, I'll just say wait and see. The West should get their beta testing sometime this year.

The XI mobile game would have been cool to see. Shame that's been cancelled afaik. I don't play games on my phone anymore but FF14 for mobile devices sounds cool from a technical standpoint..

I was never really into mmorpgs but I always wanted to try FFXI. I was never really interested in FFXIV though. Between emulation and a lot of square titles I actually I play a lot of jrpgs on my phone these days as it's one of the few genres I can play on there without bothering with a controller so a mobile FFXI port would have been way more appealing for me.
