My pick is Okoi-Miike from
Muramasa: Rebirth, though I suppose it's less about looking up to her and more about her story being an inspiration to those in bleak circumstances.
Miike starts off wanting to do the best by her closest friend and their family, only for her loved ones to die around her despite her efforts to fix things. Miike's grief drives her abandon her morals in exchange for power and though she never loses sight of her goal, she does lose herself. Even after the people responsible are dead, she won't stop killing because revenge is all she has now and there's nothing to go back to.
Miike is eventually struck down and rendered powerless. From the outside, it looks like she's hit rock bottom. For Miike, it's like she woke up from a long nightmare. With encouragement from new friends, she let's go of all the negative emotions that dictated her past actions and learns how to live for herself again. In that moment, she finds the happiness she lost when her best friend died.
Sorry for the ramble!
Muramasa is my favorite game ever, so I love talking about it.
