PS1 any underrated ps1 fighting games?

The first one is practically unplayable with modern gamers in mind
2 and 3 will not cease to exist just because I think 1 is a slow, clunky mess with bad controls. Sadly, the best thing about 1 was the soundtrack. It goes to show just how much a franchise can improve in a few short years.
You guys are kind of smack talking the game that was my introduction to the PS1 so forgive me if I'm having a hard time swallowing this proverbial pill.

And I'll do it again!
muahahahahaha
Give it some credit.

It came out in 1995 for a console that wasn't even a year old and it was the very first 3D weapons based fighting game.

Look at Virtua Fighter, the first 3D fighting game EVER, and compare it to all the other games in that series that followed.

Yeah I played it when it was new. It was fun when it came out but whenever I revisit it I can't get into it anymore.

Advanced V.G. 1 & 2 - Better on other platforms >_>
Asuka 120% Special BURNING Fest.
Asuka 120% Excellent BURNING Fest. EXCELLENT
Asuka 120% Final BURNING Fest. - my personal favorite of the "Anime Girl Fighter" games
Bakumatsu Rouman: Gekka no Kenshi - aka The Last Blade
Psychic Force 2 - Dreamcast version available in English
Mortal Kombat II - Japan-only...but in full English. Wat.
Galaxy Fight - IYKYK
Makeruna! Makendou 2 - Fighting game sequel...to a timed action platformer...?
Angel Eyes - Cover art is in the dictionary next to "Weird"...
Gundam: The Battle Master, Battle Assault 1 & 2
Samurai Deeper Kyo - aka "Bandai Shodown"
Evil Zone - Everyone says it's underrated...
Destrega - ...so it must be true!
Inuyasha: A Feudal Fairy Tale - Shockingly decent!
Vs. - Fun Fact! The character Mia was (allegedly) modeled & designed after one of the devs' daughters...
AbalaBurn - Cross Mega Man Legends exploration with polygonal 2D fighting.

Mia, btw:

I’m not sure if it’s underrated since I’m not sure if it’s actually good, but I grew up with Toshinden 3. I was obsessed with the sick music and cool characters, but I hardly knew how to play at all.
Me, my brother, and our friend spent an entire summer unlocking every character.

The intro sequence blew my mind as a kid. I thought it was the coolest most dramatic shit I’d ever seen in my life. There’s just something so wild about storing a sword in a guitar case.

As someone who grew up with this game, yeah it was awesome.

Can I get some love for Battle Arena Toshinden and Bloody Roar?
Bloody roar yes. Toshinden, eehhh 😅
I love the series, the soundtracks alone are cheese level extinction events, but I’d call them all rated very accurately.

It feels odd to call an entry into the Soul Calibur series underrated but Soul Edge/Soulblade deserves more love. Imho one of the top 10 fighting games on the system and to me far more enjoyable than the last couple of modern entries in the series. I just prefer the slower, more tactical combat it offers.

Kamen Rider V3 is a strange but fun fighting game based on a Japanese TV series. It features multiple storylines with cutscenes that are surprisingly well-made for the PS1.
For non-Japanese players, the atmosphere might feel wild and hilarious, but this over-the-top craziness is what gives the game its charm. Visually, it holds up well: smooth animations, colorful arenas, and a storyline presentation reminiscent of modern fighting games.
This game is a gem for fans of Japanese craziness and unique gameplay. Give it a try if you’re ready for some good laughs and a one-of-a-kind experience!

I'm surprised no one has mentioned tobal 2 yet, tobal no 1 is good too but tobal 2 is great but forgotten.
