I've been into music production for around 10 years now, I love music, it's my passion. Even more so than gaming honestly.

Drums, guitar, piano/keyboard, and vocals is what I usually stick to, but I would love to learn the harp, and woodwind instruments.

I usually make dark ambient (horror), fantasy (JRPG), and metal music. I am heavily influenced by Akira Yamaoka, and Masami Ueda (Silent Hill, Resident Evil)
So a lot of what I make is in that style.

Lately I've been making Death Industrial, Zelda, and Dark Cloud styled stuff.

Right now it's just a very passionate hobby, but I have made money with it here and there, would be nice to do that full-time, but I'm not gonna force it and take the joy of music creation away.

Currently saving up for a new drum set, since I beat the shit out of the last once I had, rendered it unplayable lol

Best wishes to you, whichever path you'll decide to take (hobby or full-time work)!!

I used to play guitar and piano but I got bored fast I didn't touch one for years. I rarely produce music by using a program called "Reason" that I pirated long time ago just because "dude it's a cool idea to realize", which I made that cool idea remixed to NES-like music just because I found a cool and easy to use program for at from the developer of the indie game VVVVVV called "Bosca Ceoil" and recently remixed this same music into Sega Genesis like music just because I found a program that can produce Genesis-like musics called "Furnace the chiptune tracker" but it ended up sounding like shit just because I rushed to see results to test the program lol.

Other than this I like to write lyrics, more like poems as a hobby and sometimes I wonder "if this poem was a music how it would be sound like" and all but I don't bother producing music for my poems/lyrics anymore which I used to sometimes use the "Reason" to turn them into songs, so what I do anymore is I use a free AI for it which actually does a great job NGL. These years my curiosty with AI generated music resulted in me writing funny meme lyrics and turn them into AI song lol.

I heard Reason is a pretty good DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) I've used Cubase, MuLab, and currently using Reaper, It will be my main DAW from here on, so good.

What kind of lyrics, poems do you write?

Only as a hobby and pretty occasionally since I prefer drawing as my creative outlet, but I'm in the early stages of making an ambient/dungeon synth EP right now. Very early, though!

Hmm, in short whatever inspires me but mostly about an aspect of humanity. When I write poem I make sure it rhymes, each line has a particular amount of vowels that goes well with the rhytme when you read or every line has same amount of vowel and it's an acrostic poem, meaning every first letter in every stanza forms the name of the title. For example:

The King of Babylon

Towers of the men built with the arrogant pride
Heightened the ignorance of the dust to elide
Erasure of the mother tongue halted the stride

King has ordered for an umpteen premature death
Immoral mortality conquered land of earth
Never satisfied, climbed to the heavens neath
Greed was blind, their futile war was not the most eath

Oh dear the morning star, now you are the new dawn
Fall and return back to your realm, you the dust spawn

Baby steps you did forget made you fall running
Aspirations you had made you fall hard crying
Bath in sea of dejection, you were never clean
You as dreamth will never be a herculean
Lack of the humanity is your greatest sin
Opposition for the good made you a toxin
Now you are dust as fated amongst the ruin

And this is the AI generate song version of my poem:

When I write lyrics it really depends on the genre and what the song is about so it can be written in any way as long as it sounds good. But when I write raps songs I follow my poem rule but without it being an acrostic poem. If you wanna hear the songs that I write its lyrics but an AI sings and generated the music then here it's:

And my meme parody rap lyrics of "Today of a good day" lol:

And my Nintendo rap. It's very historic!!! lolol:

The King of Babylon lyrics are tight, that would make a good heavy ass metal track.
I tried doing rap in the past, man, let's just say it was embarrassing, not the genre for me, but at least I tried.

You live and learn lol
You definitely have a skill for lyricism, my shit is pretty primitive, I just go on what I feel, be it anger, resentment, depression etc.
Lyrics are not my strong suit lol

I'm not familiar with the genre, but your "Tower of Babylon" reminds me of songs from a group called "Rhapsody" that I've heard long ago, I think some kind of metal? (see, I'm not into the genre so I can't make other examples). Really cool even if it's AI made!!!
Also lol for Nintendo rap, I listened to it the other day from another topic, I didn't realize it was made by you: epic!

The funny thing is I did really tried hard to make the damn AI produce a decent Tower of Babylon heavy metal song but it failed (considering free generation limit for every day being so low I had to repeat generation for like 3 days), in fact it tends to fail in heavy metal and related genres like brutal metal. I had more like Opeth-style song in mind, so I had to go for the "Folklore" kind of genre when heavy metal failed lol. Perhaps this specific free AI I use has such a limitation lol. BTW I'm using this: https://aisonggenerator.io/

As for the Nintendo rap song, yep lyrics by me but singing and music is by AI. Relatively the AI does raps songs okay but my favorite is synth-pop songs that it really nails it. For example:

In the end I love to listen to music and love to write lyrics, in that regard AI is so fun for me and I'm glad they can do such stuff lol.

I make black metal, death metal, grindcore, breakcore, and noise
That's whats up, If i need to express some unhinged negative emotions, I make metal, that's what I love about the genre, and all it's sub genres. It's raw, unfiltered, and just real, honest in it's expression. Sometimes a mf needs to get some negative shit off his chest, metal does that for me, so does dark ambient and power electronics.

Big respect

Studied classic violin for nearly 20 years, then trauma appeared so i switched to crazy synths, sound design and goofy electronic music::sailor-embarrassed
I'm always in search for some inspiration in the videogame world, to expand my knowledge in music and also to admire other's work / creativity
I was into metal time ago but atm i'm just listening to Vildhjarta, i love their sound

That's awesome, I love me some strange, odd, and experimental sound design. Can't get enough of twisted, creepy, and sometimes ethereal soundscapes. I would love to learn violin, such a beautiful instrument.

Love stuff like Vildhjarta, music oozing in atmosphere is my kinda thing.
