Ketsui Death Label - Kizuna Jigoku-tachi is a fun shmup if you're into that genre, has a ton of various different difficulty settings too so you can challenge yourself.

Phantasy Star 0 is surprisingly good, even better with a friend.
Custom Robo Arena continues the series fantastic gameplay, although the story mode is a bit lacking compared to previous entries.
Mystery Dungeon: Shiren The Wanderer is a remake of the SNES roguelike classic.

I think it's like Namco x Capcom, same developers, publishers, turn based combo fighting gameplay and character crossover like Xiaomu and Reiji.
There's also the sequels to Namco x Capcom, Project X Zone 1 & 2 for the 3DS.

ABSOLUTELY The World Ends With You,
not only a must have for DS ESPECIALLY if you like RPGs, but one of the top games i've ever played in 35 years of gaming.
on DS its an interesting control scheme (controlling 2 characters, top and bottom, using buttons and touch screen together) both players share an HP bar so they'll both die together. there's a crapton of difficulty adjustments (including dropping your player level at will to boost item drop rates)
on Mobile (Android/iOS) you have one screen and you just have to worry about the main character your partner just "jumps in" and goes away, that version cuts your HP in half since you're not sharing with a 2nd character, it looks and sounds better on Mobile especially the voices and THE AMAZING music.
it's also on switch (and that version has an extra chapter, switch exclusive) but you can youtube that.
the sequel NEO world ends with you is extremely wild (you eventually control 6 characters at once, no AI you actually control all 6 together using 6 different buttons for their attacks/skills)

chrono trigger, the BEST VERSION OF CHRONO TRIGGER IS ON DS, i'll fight people on this. even the new HD "remasters" are suck and broken, the DS version has all the content, old and new, anime scenes, more story scenes, an additional ending, the monster arena mode, and a huge gallery mode and MAPS OF EVERY SINGLE PLACE.

dragon quest 9, since it's only on DS, it's really good, class changing, custom character design (including outfits) supports multiplayer (local works, you basically can play the story together) decent chunk of postgame content compared to most Dragon quest games. its my 2nd top DQ game, the first is DQ3 (remake is great)

all teh Dragon quest DS games are good, 4,5,6, monsters joker 1 and 2,

Tetris DS, i mean, it's tetris but this one is so damn retro with levels featuring mario, donkey kong, metroid, and etc NES games.

mario 64 DS, has more playable characters and some other things the 64 version doesn't have.

sonic rush, one of my favorite sonic games, love the soundtrack

kirby superstar Ultra, great port of one of the BEST SNES GAMES, with some new content added, of course multiplayer is not like SNES (SNES game is 2 players EVERYWHERE) and also the best kirby game in existence, fight me.

diddy kong racing DS, this is MUCH better than the n64 and fixed all the issues from N64 (rapidly pressing A made you go faster on n64, and boosting required LETTING GO OF ACCELERATE I guarantee most n64 players didn't know either of those)
those issues are fixed on DS and also the games less hard (it's really hard on n64 especially the 2nd playthough) and more stuff on this one, though a few characters got replaced, also looks better anyways.

final fantasy 3 and 4 DS, i like both of these better than any other ports of FF3/4
FF4 DS in particular has voice acting and scenes and new game plus features (it gets harder)
FF3 just gives the main characters actual names and backstory and 3d scenes
both of these are better on mobile (android/iOS) though, graphics and sound wise, search for "3D" otherwise you'll find the crappy pixel remasters (god they're so bad)
