Any games everyone hated but you ABSOLUTELY loved?

Big Rigs: Over the Road Racing
Everyone says it's awful (and it is) but there's no speed limit in reverse, I say...

Dark Souls 2 is the lowest hanging fruit that everybody hates.
People are simply biased towards it. Game has some the most content & best level design in the series!
People can adapt to different action games but don't want to adapt to DS2 ::sonic-waiting

The 3rd Birthday is another one I like to stress a lot. It's one of the best action games you can play out there! Simple as that!

Nice that you mention RE6 because it's also actually a fun game.

Some people aren't a fan of the musou formula but I don't mind. The core gameplay for most of the musous are usually pretty flexible & allow you to do various shenanigans. The repetition & grinding with characters & weapons never gets old, well, for me anyway.

Eh, I like DS2 personally. Not as much as I like the first I admit. But 2 is a genuinely good game.

It's an absolute fire of a game, and anyone who says otherwise is a liar.

FF II and FF XV.

I found FF II to be a really good time despite some of the flaws the game had, especially the story as I do enjoy that kind of tale with fighting against all odds in spite of the tragedies that may occur. I also love Elder Scrolls gameplay a ton so naturally it clicked with me, also the music in the game will always be somewhere in top tier for FF for me.

While FF XV I remember how much slander it got at release (which was fair to a degree) but with each flaw there was always something the game did right, especially with the main gang who I just grew to love over time. Love the game a lot overall and really wished it didn't get that dirty like that with the DLC and expanded universe stuff that was planned. At least it made Verum Rex tho. :P

Add me to the choir of people that enjoys DMC: Devil May Cry. Should it have been a Devil May Cry game? Nah, but it's really creative and fun in a vacuum. Is the story stupid? Yeah, but I think the story itself knows it's stupid and is just a vehicle for the game's brilliant visuals. And is the game too easy? Perhaps, but my hands simply can't do what your average Devil May Cry demands of you now, so it doesn't bother me much.

This is... a positive opinion of DmC I can get behind.
EDIT: And yeah, the game is tied with 2 as the weakest one, but that's mainly because of the story, writing, characters and overall attitude. The thing is that DmC was developed by Ninja "Heavenly Sword and Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice " Theory, and those guys most of the time can do absolutely no wrong, including when they're dealt shitty hands by key creatives like Keiji Inafune, who most of the blame for the game, and most of Capcom's western-pandering phase should go to.

And to be honest, if you were to strap me to a table, have a laser pointed towards my package, and forced me to choose between playing DmC or watching all of Netflix May Cry... I'd pick DmC by a landslide.

Lots of good games mentioned here. The 3rd Birthday is a banger, amazing shooter. FF: Mystic Quest and Guardian's Crusade are both good RPGs. Personally I like Beat Down: Fists of Vengeance. It's like a grimier Yakuza with somewhat less story and more fighting. I really like the 1v1 3D fighter-style fights, and I wish Yakuza did something like that - a whole separate fighting engine for 1v1. On the other hand, maybe that's why the brawler fights were nothing special.

I'm glad you posted screenshots of this game because its beauty is one of the reasons to play it.
Agree. The setting is so cool. It was a Mass Effect/Alpha Protocol style game in the XCOM universe with tactical squad control. I was just expecting a linear third-person shooter when I played it, however it had a hub environment, side missions, dialogue choices, etc. It had more than I was expecting.

I LOVE DARK SOULS II SOTFS! That one game has my most hours out of any souls game. Around 1000 on PS4 and it was the first game in the series for me to get the platinum trophy.

Fire Emblem Fates. I'm not sure if this counts because it's difficult to gauge the internet hivemind's opinion. It sure seems like everyone despises it. The localization was a blatant butchering of the source material and Revelations could have been cut entirely but I still enjoyed the games overall. It's certainly a hell of a lot better than Engage.

Sonic Heroes. People like to point out that you have to play through all 14 levels 4 times. I don't see why that's an issue. Are we forgetting that modern Sonic games like Unleashed and Generations force you to replay snippets of levels in order to progress? All the busywork you have to do in those games to get to the fun part completely ruins them. In my opinion that's a lot worse than just making you run through the game multiple times. Sonic Heroes may have had padding but at least they didn't insert loads of it in between each level. And that's a major reason why aside from Mania there have been no good Sonic games since then.

Yeah I'll add my voice to the ones saying Dark Souls 2.
Its not as good as the first one, but I still think its a GREAT game! Especially the Scholar of the First Sin version with its DLC and additions to the story. A lot of people prefer the faster games, and thats understandable, but I find DS2 to be extremely fun and I put hundreds of hours into it.

Also, Zelda 2: the Adventure of Link. I love this game, and admittedly a large bit of it is nostalgia. The game also benefits a lot from save states. It can be difficult, but like a Dark Souls game I find the difficulty to be part of the fun.

I beat Zelda 2 for the first time 2-3 years ago. No saves states. The real difficulty is getting started, which would be enough to turn a lot of people off. The early portion is really rough for a beginner. Once you have a few upgrades, the difficulty is a lot more reasonable up until the last dungeon which is also tough. I liked the game.
