Anime Anime That Made You Cry

Not sure if it counts since it's an anime movie, but Grave of The Fireflies from Studio Ghibli. I shed some serious tears and felt like I couldn't stop for quite a while.

Black Jack, an old anime from the legend Osamu Tezuka. To me, it has one of the best writing in anime that i've ever seen, along with the beautiful animation.

mushi shi, angel beats, blue period, madoka... i think anime, in general, makes me cry

Grave of the Fireflies for sure. Probably the most depressing movie I've ever seen.

Battle Angel Alita has some sad moments too.

I will never watch that one again.

Even hearing the name is enough to get the waterworks going.

I have a little sister. I feel the same way. It hits too close to home for me.

Violet evergarden had me balling my eyes out, the first time I couldn't hold back tears

MSG The Witch from Mercury, Grave of the Fireflies, Your Lie in April and Wolf Children.

And also weirdly, spirited away even though I didn't think the movie was sad per say

Two, both of them "For Kids"
Night on The Galactic Railroad, it's about a cat whose life sucks, when suddenly in a festival night he finds the titular train, the final twist can be see coming if you pay attention, but oh lord it destroyed me

And the Another is Chirin No Suzu, or Ringing Bell, about a tale of revenge from the perspective of a little lamb...from FRIGGIN SANRIO PRE AGGRESUKO

death parade made me cry, i dont even remember the plot ::lol gotta rewatch

I'm surprise no one have said Look Back yet. I don't think I cried but it did make me pretty emotional.

Over wise the Third Impact scene of End of Eva and the anime short Daicon IV. I think beautiful breathtaking animation and music mixed together really does something for me.

Well 3 titles made me cry so far. End of the first season of the Sailor Moon.
Kimagure Orange road.
Last one is Kowarekake no orgel.

Casshern sins. A reboot of the Casshern series in which the earth is on a apocalypse and humanity is on the edge of extinction. Only robots are still alive and the majority are going crazy because of excesive rust. So it's Casshern job to discover what really happened and remember his lost identity and memories in the process

In One Piece when the gang had their last moment with the Going Merry I was holding back tears

Grave of the fireflies is definitely a tough watch. Beautiful movie, but I don't think I'll ever revisit it. The same goes for the anime adaptation of Barefoot Gen.

For some reason I also get teary-eyed with everything Satoshi Kon. His work isn't sad, maybe melancholic at times, but it's so deeply human and moving that it makes me cry. Particularly Paprika has this absolutely infectious joie de vivre that I find deeply touching. I tend to watch this movie a lot in darker moments to lift me up.

Didn't cry, but I honestly turned off Grave of the fireflies, it's amazing however it was just too much for me at the time. Honestly I've seen some pretty extreme horror in my time, but I can't think of many that hit half as hard as GOF did.

Movie 'Martian Successor Nadesico -The prince of darkness-', during the ending credits when the song 'Dearest' by Matsuzawa Yumi played for the first time (man that song is awesome, smooth bossanova...).
I LOVE Nadesico with passion, and it ticks me that the plans for sequel were scrapped for good, so 'darkness is the final piece of Nadesico anime. I know the story continues in two games, 'THE BLANK OF THREE YEARS' (Saturn - tells the story between movie and the TV series) and 'THE MISSION' (Dreamcast - sequel).

People, watch Nadesico, and if you have already seen it, watch is again - a perfect balance of humour and seriousness with extremely likable characters and coolest mecha action ever. It's the magnum opus of director Satou Tatsuo, who, ironically, is also the director of ongoing new anime 'Tasuuketsu', that I think is maybe the worst anime ever. :D
