Better not ask
For the past 10 years, I haven’t watched any anime at all because school and other things completely consumed my time. Now I’ve started catching up on a few series like Call of the Night, The Dangers in My Heart, One-Punch Man, and I’d like to ask for some recommendations on what I might have missed during that time. I don’t have any specific preferences. And I want to find some anime movies to watch.
(Hidden gems are very welcome!)

Check out Vinland Saga, or Kaiju No. 8. Records of Ragnarok is pretty good too, getting a new season soon.

Oh I saw movies in there. It's old as hell but check out Ninja Ryukenden, it's the Ninja Gaiden movie. It serves as a finale to the story. Takes place after the NES games, which those take place after the 3D Xbox games. Really good movie.

If you haven't watched it already, I’d strongly recommend catching up on Gintama. That show is just too good, and it definitely helps that many episodes are self-contained, so you can easily watch it on and off.

Brand New Animal
Made In Abyss
Note that the latter has a somewhat unintuitive watch order.

• Dungeon Meshi
• Frieren
• Apothecary Diaries
• My Dress-up Darling
• Aharen-san is Indecipherable
• 16bit Sensation: Another Layer
• Senpai wa Otokonoko
• Mobile Suit Gundam: Witch From Mercury
• I'm in Love With the Villainess
• I've Been Killing Slimes for 300 Years and Maxed Out my Level

Just to name a few.

I must return to Gintama. I stopped watching when white Shinsengumi showed up. Probably gonna watch everything from beginning.

My Senpai is Annoying is cute, wholesome office romcom.

Are you wanting anime only from the past 10 years or any older stuff too? There's more and more companies reaching back to older anime and putting them out in the english for the first time (officially) like Panzer World Galient.

You really said 😂:

(Please don't take this as me shitting on your list. I'm just amused by how comically LARGE it is.)

Wotakoi: Love Is Hard for Otaku is a fun, cute office romcom, adult to. Not adult in the hentai/ecchi sense no just no kid stuff or high school etc. Worth a watch too. Sadly, it's a short series with no chance of another season.

Sonny Boy・2021
Wotakoi also has a live action movie that's pretty good if you're into that 3D kind of thing.

Not to necro and/or hijack this thread, but I figured I might as well throw it out there!

Does anyone happen to have a recommendation for someone that rarely watches anime these days and has no idea what's even out there anymore?
Off the top of my head, I really liked FLCL and I'm a huge fan of Shinichiro Watanabe's shows (Cowboy Bebop, Samurai Champloo and Kids on the Slope specifically) and generally like shorter, character driven stories, if that helps?

Hope all of you have a good day btw!

Brand New Animal is fairly short and quite decent, having only a single season of 12 episodes.
Also, Made In Abyss is good.

As mentioned by a few people already Frieren: Beyond Journey's End is one I highly recommend to everyone, unless you dislike traditional fantasy elements (dragons, elves, magic, etc.). As that's the only reason I can think of for someone to not like it. It's one of the best animes out there today and it's only one season to catch up right now. It's a much watch in my personal opinion.

My Hero Academia seems to be the big super hero anime. It's another thing to watch for One Punch Man fans. All Might is an iconic character IMO. It features many other great characters too like Tokoroki, Lemillion and Shota Aizawa. The only caveat is that the show has about 7 seasons along with some movies/specials, so it's a bit of a time commitment. Worth it though IMO. It's THE super hero anime show as far as I can tell.

For science fiction I think Vivy: Fluorite Eye Song is worth watching. I think that one is a bit of a hidden gem. It's one season, which makes for a quick watch. It has amazing music and animation.

If you want something really different, Thunderbolt Fantasy is a really good anime style show featuring puppets. Four seasons so far, but you can get through them fairly quickly.

I could get into some older stuff too, but these are all fairly recent shows (last ten years).

Much appreciated, I'll look them up later!
