Anime Anime ending songs you liked more than the opening song?

Here's an ED I remembered recently.
Shurato's OST is really good but this ED really manages to stand out.

Every yuruyuri season has an amazing ED compared to the opening but I'll just drop that one

The 1st Ending Theme to 21 Emon, 21 Seiki No Koibito/Lovers of the 21st Century is one of those songs I like over its Opening Theme.

Great thread! I do really enjoy a good ed sequence that somehow adds more depth / is a bit more mellow and one you look forward to at the end of a show.

I could probably think of quite a few where the ed is even better than the op, the ones that come to mind at the moment are:

Gungrave

Yawara

Now and then, here and there

Sakigake!! Otokojuku

Chevalier D'Eon (for the record the anime turned out to be disappointing for me in the end.... But I loved the ed sequence and song)

City Hunter

Betterman's a fun one to bring up because, if I remember correctly, they swapped the opening and ending on the Bandai USA DVDs. Evidentially they agreed that the OP was better(man).

Anyway my answer is Getter Robo Arc, which is absolutely a cheat answer since the three endings are new arrangements of the previous Getter Robo OVA openings, but they're great so it's fine. And the actual opening is nothing to sneeze at either.

And on an unrelated note:

Record of lodoss war ova's ending theme kaze no fantasia/fantasia of the wind, whether japanese or english version, the intro is good, but nothing compared to the ending.

English Version:

I will always go back to City Hunter's closing theme from season one.
The first episodes where a bit boring for my taste, but every time that song played I was left with the feeling of "man, so cool".

I just had to keep watching.

Might be an unpopular opinion, but I really miss when anime used to fully dub the intro and ending songs into English. It seems like they usually don't bother anymore.

When done right it was great, bubblegum crisis comes to mind, but yeah it's sad that good english voice actors don't really exist much anymore much less anime singers, most are more worried about petty politics than voicing a anime character and almost never try to change their voices, how many times can you hear the same voice from so many characters?

You can find english fandubs which can be great occasionally, like this:

If i remember right, even toriyama was impressed with this dub of the song.

Full Metal Alchemist was an amazing show, (both early 2000s and late 2000s brotherhood, the opening themes set the tones and in some cases, the ending themes added nicely to it, and was even superior to the opening.

Each song was well suited and showed their growth and journey ahead, but also there continued grind.

Salute!
