ive been pretty fixated on animal crossing again recently, specifically the earlier titles. (it's pretty nuts how they released five games just between 2001 and 2005, four of which being variations on the original n64 game) i hear a lot of people say wild world, the DS game, is pretty hard to go back to, and while it does have its flaws ive been having a great time with it. it feels like sort of a mix between the chunkier look of the first gen games but with the more modern structure of things like city folk and new leaf. it's also a crazy impressive title for not only the time, but also the hardware. 3D is very clearly not the DS's specialty, but they somehow made it work with wild world.

ive been looking to play online with people just to immerse myself in the time period ACWW came out in (after all, it was the first animal crossing to not only have multiplayer, but online multiplayer) and i know a couple of years ago i figured out how to get it working with either Wiimmfi or RiiConnect24, im not sure which one... either way, if anyone else plays wild world, itd be fun to play together!

I haven't played Animal Crossing: Wild World in a few years, other then replaying a bit of the GameCube Animal Crossing late last year.

I never played any of those but the DS one seems to be a great entry point.

i love wild world, i grew up playing that one and the gamecube one so maybe it's nostalgia but i think acww still plays super well. kinda wish i was taking the bus regularly still, id hop back on so fast with all that dead time lol

My first Animal Crossing and one of my first videogames for the DS; when I tried "New Leaf" years later, on 3ds, I could not find the same "magic" of the previous title despite the obvious improvements.

i love the game, but i never can go back to play it for a simple reason, the lack of storage for all of your items there is a single chest, every other container chest and fridge share all the items inside, that is so stupid.

I understand why the New Leaf developers nerfed Mr. Resetti but that doesn't mean I have to like it ::sadkirby

Not my kids, so not my decision.
Parentd oughta make their kids grow up with The prince of egypt and All dogs go to heaven, that'll make you grow some balls at 6! ::eggmanlaugh

Haven't played Wild World for years. It's still my all time favorite Animal Crossing games next to New Leaf and Gamecube. While it does not have much variety as New Leaf and the Gamecube, Wild World still has a place in my heart.

It brought several elements of "Modern AC" like that the town isn't in blocks but honestly I think today I cannot play with the low framerate and low res.

AC Wii is basically a straight enhancement and if you wanna play a handheld entry New Leaf exists.

I have more nostalgia for the GameCube entry myself.

Resetti is annoying.

I think that Animal Crossing should've gotten auto saves since the Wii entry and ditched the whole "going back to your house to save", especially when a handheld can have batteries going down.

Never got to own it back then, but I did pick it up when it showed up on the Wii U Virtual Console. The only Animal Crossing I haven't played yet is the original 'Cube one.

I just think it’s awesome how much they were able to bring over to the DS! Animal Crossing and the DS are a match made in heaven, as when I think of that system, I tend to think of games that are almost overstuffed with content and have goofy 3D presentation. Animal Crossing kind of fits that description to a tee.

New Leaf was my first animal crossing game and he still surprised me and i was like "OK GEEZ i won't do it anymore"

I wonder how really was like before the nerf XD

WW's graphics blew my mind back in the day. Still have a soft spot for it. I miss the AC games where you were just some shmuck.

Resetti was my boy. Loved pissing off that dude in the old days. He didn't deserve to be done so dirty... DX

I'd add The Land Before Time to the list, too.

I've been an Animal Crossing fan for most of my life, since the GameCube original back in '02/03 and even having played every main entry, I think I spent the most time with Wild World. I fondly remember being a little kid just starting middle school, and waiting for Wild World on DS in 2005 was like waiting for Christmas for me.

I've been playing it lately. It was my very first Animal Crossing game, I loved it dearly, and it still holds up wonderfully, it surprises me that people think it's not that good. Probably one of my favourites in the series

Today I booted it up for the first time in a long while to play on a new town and got pretty much two of my favorite villagers and it hooked me for hours. Then I was spending an hour making a pattern and it crashed and I never even saved the town ::dkfacepalm

i will try again tomorrow anyways, but I've actually been wondering, does online work (via kaeru/wiimmfi) and do people still play online?
