I saw that there's going to be a new content update for Animal Crossing: New Horizons on the Nintendo Switch coming January 15th, 2026.

Also, here's the YouTube trailer as well:

It's good an all, having Zelda items, Splatoon villagers/items and the return of Nintendo games from the Original Gamecube game which I will come back too, but, I haven't played New Horizons after Happy Home Paradise DLC and I'm a bit nervous about my favorite animal villagers leaving my island.

Well, would you look at that, Nintendo remembered Animal Crossing exists. Adorable.

In nh they cant leave unless you give them permission

Seems Resetti is still on Prozac.

I'm kinda disappointed that the the playable retro games are only one per item.
Wouldn't it make more sense to just ask you what game on the NSO classic library you'd like to play in New Horizons?

Genuinely happy to hear this, I love this game so much and all these additions are welcome, imo!

Actually I thought of that too. If New Horizons is part of the Nintendo Switch Online Service, shouldn't each Nintendo item let you play every Nintendo game via Switch Online but only the Nintendo licensed ones?

My most played switch game, but I sold my switch already. Nice for folks who still check in on it, thought.

Me to my 11 other friends: "Hey, you all should go buy a Switch 2 and that camera thingy so we can do the Animal Crossings together on the Switch 2 and check out each other's islands."

I've tried out the new update, but I haven't done everything that came with the update so far. So far it's a pretty good update.

Please only view my spoiler below only if you've played a bit of this newest update yourself.

I bought a few of the new Lego items, made two rooms at the hotel, done some DIY projects to put in the drop off box in front of the hotel, bought two items that Kap'n's Grandma was selling at the hotel shop, met Mr. Resetti and his brother Don, (I saw him at the Roost earlier today and that's about all that I've done so far. I also learned that if you press the ZL button on the Nintendo Switch while outside you do this little hop and you can strafe or side step if you use the circle pad button thing.

While not really spoiling anything, since I mainly don't know as of right now what else was added, as I didn't originally watch the YouTube video that I had linked above when I originally made this post late last year, I do hope that Timmy & Tommy's store will be able to be upgraded, but I have strong doubts that it'll happen in this new update that just came out today. Something else that I would've wanted in this update is the ability to move all buildings and put them into a storage or something so I could better reorganize my island anytime, instead of having to talk to Tom Nook to move buildings, my own house or any villagers house and wasting Bells doing that. Another thing that would be unique is to have a scooter or something to ride around the island with as a means for faster travel, (I don't know if this is in the actual update or not, as if it is or not then I'll make another post mentioning if it's in the update or not).

I never played an animal crossing game but I have wanted to but Nintendo prices always made never jump on it. With my economy being what it´s been for all my life I rather get 2-5 games for the price of one and Nintendo barely have sales at all and if they do it´s always third party games.

I wish some one did an anime styled animal crossing game for pc I would love that.

Got back from playing the update, it's a pretty good one. All my villagers and island data are safe from the transfer. The missions on crafting furniture is a neat way to earn more points although finding some of the DIY recipes will be hard to do. Hopefully I get those NES games even though I can play them on any other platform.

It's neat to see a part of it for free.

But I'm not that interested in AC. I'd probably relaunch Animal Forest 64 just for fun.

on a date rn
i’m a bit nervous, thought i'd be quirky and go with my Link hat but she's in full Splatoon cosplay

There was some things that I would've liked to have seen in the Animal Crossing: New Horizons 3.0 update that didn't happen in the update, such as Timmy & Tommy's shop finally getting another upgrade, more fruits and newer fruits that haven't been in the games before, some type of island editor where you could pick up houses/other buildings and store them to change up the island, possibly some other way to travel faster than on foot, (not counting the Warp Pipes from the Mario promotion that was included in an update a few years ago or eating 10 pieces of fruit or candy to be able to run a bit faster), placing rugs outside and being able to hang the blinds or curtains or adding doors to rooms like in Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer. Maybe this could be in a new possible future update for the game or if Nintendo ever made a whole new Animal Crossing game.
