Not sure if my favorite since the only Animal Crossing I've played a lot was Wild World, but Filbert is the most dear to me in my memories. Homie is a real one.

Where did I ever say that? Oh, wait my sad react to yours? No no its just sad that thats your only Criteria There are plenty of characters who are amazing and worthwhile of being favorites while not gay....which is...most of the cast but still. So much potential just not cut out for being gay, thats all.

No no, it was a legit question, because I don't know. I've been watching a friend playing this game for months and it was kind of fun but I never played it by myself, just enjoyed the "slice of life" while watching. Your sad reaction was more like a "yeah, it's a pity there are no gay characters in this game" to me.

But I am always mad at these kind of games for banning gay or lesbian culture, like being straight is the "right" thing. Even children who play these games need to understand our society is free :).

Its not really that its that.....sexuality isnt really any point or core point of Animal crossing. Sure, some characters might have a crush on another and I mean, maybe 10 out of 300 or 400, but most are just characters defined more by their personalities, voice, style and the memories you make with em.

Its not that its banned, its that its just not approached. This is Nintendo, meaning they want to appeal to the global market, and there are still many countries where parents would like the ability to teach their kids about that kind of stuff before a game does. One would assume that while showing characters like that would normalize its not their place to educate or really explain.

However to pull this back? Romance of any kind isnt really what AC has ever been about. Back on the N64 it was a very simple game and by the time of the internal clock on the Gamecube, it was started to think of the game in a family dyanamic. Where a family could play 1 card, leave notes for each other on the billboard, and mails ect ect. This was pre net connection of course so thats why they pushed a more family angle first.

I dont think an inclusion or lack there of is them making a statement on what is right or not. They arent trying to make that statement nor are the trying to educate since they realize thats not one, their responsibility, and two, thats not their purpose as more then just kids play these games.

Plus for me, it doesnt matter what a characters sexuality is, I dont like or dislike characters because of that. I care much more about who they are, what they stand for, how they live, their moral code. As I said, if thats your only criteria, you exclude a lot of wonderful characters for something they cant really choose or help.

That's primarily Nintendo of America's fault. They're usually the ones who push for changes for incredibly stupid reasons. To my knowledge, they changed the sex of at least three characters because they didn't fit the stereotype for gendered character designs.

Gracie is female everywhere accept for Japan, where he's an effeminate male cross-dresser (note: this character is a fashion designer; effeminate male is the stereotype but Nintendo gonna Nintendo).

Saharah was also changed to female outside of Japan because...his lashes are really long.

Blanca got changed to female, too, but I don't recall the reason.
