Started watching with the release of the 'McKids' episode (because there was literally nothing else going on on YouTube at the time, aside for some proto Smosh and a bit of THiroka junk) and got immediately hooked.

I didn't keep up with it after he moved over to GT/ScrewAttack, but returned years after and have remained a loyal fan since.

It's as classic as anything he talks about on his show.

I love how there was a huge 'video essay' (UGGHHH!) talking about the 'Controversy' surrounding his show, person and character, and 99,9% of it was shit done by other people and the remaining percentage was them not liking his music and criticizing his family life (what?).

The world needs more James and less... Everyone else.

Love it when he just couldn't keep a straight face and is genuinely having fun. like that time when he saw this and started laughing. ::winkfelix

And this bit with the Guitar Guy and the Scrotum Guns.:loldog
The "I am just a regular dude having a great time" bits are always highlights for me.

So many creators and personalities seem afraid of letting some humanity through... And I never understood it.

Where did the hair go? ::linkmouthcover

Jokes aside, looooove AVGN. I remember genuinely waiting excitedly for new episodes to release to watch them together with my friend.
I don't keep up a lot with the "newer" stuff though, I found most the ones I checked out a bit too shouty and whacky for my tastes. I'm sure there are still gems, though.

My favorite episode was always Nintendo Power:
I especially love all the AVGN episodes that are more of a slightly mellow, educational retrospective variety, because I think that's where his videographer experience shines the most. Though the ones where he plows through an entire franchise are always fun too, particularly the Batman ones are certified classics.

At least once a year or so, I’ll have a few days where I’ll just marathon through all the classic seasons (Basically like the 2006-2012 stuff), that’s my absolute favourite stuff of his, and genuinely some of my favourite videos on the internet right there. Yeah, it’s had its ups and downs over the years in terms of quality imo, but it’s something I’ll always come back to at the end of the day.

I first saw him when he was still known as the Nintendo Nerd. The first time I saw him was back in 2006. I don't keep up with most pisodes, anymore but i'm glad he's doing well. James did have a dork age around 2012-2015ish, and even he admitted it and took some small breaks, just so he could put out better episodes. I respect him for that.

I admire the episodes where he interacts with his younger self the most.

I don't even know how he manages to recreate his old rooms/backgrounds that perfectly, but it's both a small detail that can easily be overlooked and a massive effort to pull off. And I have the utmost respect for him caring that much.

Been a fan for 20 years now. Hell, just the other night I was at a bar and I lead the crowd through a singalong of the AVGN theme song in the style of an old Irish pub tune. Everyone clapped.

I like him a lot partially I relate with him as a fellow nerd who struggled with learning disabilities, and never really got called "smart" but was always extremely passionate about games and wanted to share that passion, the good and the bad, with other people.

I stopped watching as religiously as I used to in the last year, which is odd. I think it might have been because he presented at some stupid anti-woke game awards, and even a fellow dumbass like me can see that "anti-woke" just means you're too lazy to be inconvenienced by pushing back against hate and prejudice, but I can forgive him since he didn't actually engage anything too bad. All he did was make the absolute dumbest dad joke you could ever possibly make about the game Dustborn and left.

I like the big rigs episode and also when he burns a 32x

Saw this sometime in the early 2010s. This is what got me intrigued, so I looked for the source, and I've kept on watching AVGN from there.

I like James with the beard

Reminds me of the "evil" Mr. Spock in Mirror,Mirror.
