CONTEXT
Analog horror is a creative genre, birthed as we know it in Local58 but originated in the found footage movies, a great deal of ideas unable to be plasmated in regular horror can come together in this creepy VHS faux experience...

In its few years, nowadays people seems to be more focused on topping the kill of a 0.0000000001 years old kid in gore and how many loud sounds they can put above a distorted image freezing, sometimes forgetting about the Lore (RIGHT URBANSPOOK!?) i loved the genre since i met it in The Walten Files, i followed from the big fishes like Mandela Catalogue from oneshots like one about a dream helmet that causes a nightmare to come to real life, but as everything, too moch of the good is bad, and that happened with the genre
Everybody started doing formulatic "Everything is happy dadeda everythings is happy dadedAAAAAAAAAAAADEADBODY (static that cuts to a PSA with stick figures explaining over 8000 rules so MR donutface doesn't eat your Boyardi cans or something)" since it was easy, and with everything that is easy, imitators will flood the market with junk, it also inspired Meme Analog horror like this beauty

But it doesn't deny that the irony can be mistaken for an actual attempt at "Horror"

I dropped the videos after a year, then i saw on a random video of my feed about a kids show that kills "Yada yada monster looks cool and friendly but he kills you", i watched the resume

And my jaw dropped in awe
PREMISE
The story is about a man called Jonah who finds a collections of his confort show, a christian Dora the Explorer type show called Angel Hare, he decides to buy it and enjoy some nostalgia time, however, comparing the collection's tapes to the ones in his VCR, he notice something... off
For starters Angel Gabby, the main character of the cartoon, in the normal tapes had lots of generic fake interactivity dialogue, but the tapes of the recorders seemed too direct and personalized, also he remembers the character Gabby talked shared his name, as the tapes are compared and the show advances Jonah realizes something's really wrong, specially with the final line of Tape (episode) 2 making him realize someone close to him is missing and maybe HE is responsible:

"He"
My mom and I
i'd forgotten
We weren't always alone
THE TWIST
The first half of the season goes in trying to fin what the actual horseradish is going on, while the second goes into finding what Gabby actually wants and figure out if she still exists
And as to be expected rather than being a murderer Jonah hid in a friends house while Gabby...did something to HIM, who turns out to be Jonah's abusive parent, Gabby is a literal and metaphorical angel and Jonah figures he can summon her by "Transmitting back" the show streaming a chapter, reuniting in a wholesome final scene...

W A T

Yup, our angel hare turns to be Good All Along, the monster was human and real (In a "Hit home" kind) and Jonah did nothing wrong
refreshingly, i found this twist charming, in an era where fiction in general, not just horror, demonizes religion (Irony i know) seeing a literal Pan de Dios (Spanish slang for a good person) be a hero is easly a moving scene, the final line of the season seals the deal

"I...(Glitches and becomes her real self) am happy to see you Jonah, Look how well you grow"
That, and the fact that they touch hands throug the screen melted me in ways not even wholesome fiction allowed me in years
AND THE ADVENTURE CONTINUES
This is only the first season, as of writing they are two seasons in the East Patch channel, the second one deals with Gabby's Dissapearence and the third one deals further with Jonah's past, both of them work great both as World Building as much as they continue the plot, all of the seasons are six episodes long and they don't pass the six minutes duration, so if you want a quick watch, this is the show
FINAL THOUGHTS
Ngel Hare is the ultimate (sub) genre subversion, I don't know if they are more of this "Analog Wholesomeness", but the comments make clear that this twist on the formula doesn't dissapoint, while far from a comedy it still has some comedy, especially in the "Fanmail" tapes that involve Lore questions, overall the show is a solid mix of character and lore and they also have good musical tastes, using both Original compositions and real life tunes with Guardian Angel from Masquerade closing the first season, as mentioned the chapters aren't too long so you may enjoy each season minus Lore chapters and Playlist videos, so give it a shot

And remember, you are a warrior in an Angel Hare's heart, peace

Best Analogue Horror I've ever seen was the Walten Files series. I had to turn the lights on for awhile after seeing this one. Just unnerving dread, and paranoia throughout, than boom, the ending. Fuck.

They started doing more episodes? man I gotta watch that. I loved Analog Horror before it became chock full of the crap you explained. Walten Files and Local58 are the kings imo.
