I'm on a Android device, and I'm wondering what is suggested for emulating the 3DO, and the Jaguar. Wild guess, but I'm assuming these both use Retroarch cores? Mortal Kombat 1 for the Jaguar, and Mortal Kombat 2 for the 3DO are both releasing any moment, and I want to play both of them on my Android device.. Anything else i should keep in mind with emulating these 2 consoles? I see almost nobody mention either them.

Both Irata Jaguar and Virtual Jaguar are promising enough, but they are remarkably "moody" and slow... Or at least that's how they were when I last tried them out years ago.
Ive been looking into it, and havn't been able to find much for current opinions, its always like 4-5 years ago. I hear of some standalone emulator for it on Android, but i assume the RA cores are good enough.. Maybe?

EDIT: Virtual Jaguar and Opera seem like the way to go. Someone correct me if im wrong. Maybe ill actually enjoy these 2 consoles, like i enjoy the Saturn.

It depends on the devise you are running them on, too. But RA rarely fails.

I'd say go game-by-game and see which emulator runs them better. It's far from ideal, but so is the Jaguar itself.

It varies a lot on a case by case basis like @Waffles said. I don't have any practical knowledge in emulating these two machines, but your best starting point would probably be recent RA cores for them, I would guess.

For Saturn emulation specifically, one I am in fact familiar with, the accuracy and stability is excellent with Beetle Saturn (the same basis Mednafen uses) but it is very computationally demanding.

Yes, really seems like the darkside of emulation. Ive had zero interest in emulating either the 3DO or the Jaguar. But the upcoming Mortal Kombat ports look great enough that im starting to take these 2 consoles more seriously.

I thought Saturn emulation (on Android anyways) would be a horrible experience, but so far just using Beetle Saturn i've had pretty good results. Fighters Megamix is maybe the only game thats chugged when not using the devices overclock. I heard some bad things about Jaguar emulation, but that was people talking about it 4-5 years ago, so i assume its gotten better.

Yaba Sanshiro 2 also runs them wonderfully. I was able to beat several Saturn games on it.

Dunno how the Jaguar Emulation on Android is, or which games you have played.
But if MK On Jaguar is anything like most the Games, it will use that Incipience Phone-pad the Controller had... God i hated that thing.

And well, the Jaguar was a Ok system, nothing Special looking back on it now.

Was about on-par with n64 Graphic wise. and yeah the Bios for the jag are Finicky, Least on Batocera
Tho i still get a kick out of Kasumi Ninja for the jag.. Scotsman, who lifts his kilt and shoots fireballs out his arse, Cracks me up

I have a Samsung S24 Ultra, and I use the stock cores for the 3do and Jaguar in RetroArch, and can generally emulate anything with no lag at the best settings. Just make sure you use the Vulkan renderer when available. If you can run PSX games, you should be able to emulate both of these consoles no prob.

I've had good results using Yabause core on RetroArch. It only Crashes sometimes, maybe ~10~20% ish. Got Baroque running, Guardian Heros, Shining the holy ark, Policenauts. I think Dragon Force, but it's super unstable.

I've recently played through both 3DO Dragon Lore and Dragon's Lair with libretro Opera without any crash. Currently trying to run a bin of Dragon's Lair Jaguar CD on Virtual Jaguar but no luck booting the game so far. Bin works with BigPEmu tho.

Dragon Lore was made by french studio Cryo and I used to have the box for PC CD-ROM long ago with the crazy french voice overs, but 3DO's EU version is the only one I found online nowadays with both english and french voices (and spanish IIRC)...

Dragon's Lair on 3DO is OK for what it is. The video is very compressed but a bit better than the SegaCD. Daphne and DirkSimple are dedicated emulators for laserdisc games with which you can use videofiles with better quality (and the correct aspect ratio without the infamous cropping of today's remasters).
