Am I one of the very few people who listens to the soundtrack through the game itself?

The other day I got the Crash Nitro Kart theme song stuck in my head. Haven't played that game in like 13 years and I don't really listen to the theme that much. I had it perfect though lol. It becomes a problem sometimes when I recall a song and start laughing out loud that I remembered it.
one of my various vocal ticks is to start "singing" various Final Fantasy songs with my "trumpet", aka my mouth making trumpet noises. my girlfriend has heard me "play" the Battle theme to FF2 and One Winged Angel probably 1000 times by now when I'm sleep deprived and delirious at 12am.

It's not my fault that the climactic break down during One Winged Angel goes so fucking hard. Those little twiddly flutes right before the "VENI VENI VENIUS" are so pretty XD

I think I can picture the exact sound you make, I think I do that one too lol. Crash music has been burned into my mind for 20 of my 23 years on the planet. Shit won't leave man. I'll be doing work and boom, N.Gin Warped theme, or Electron Avenue, or Boiler Room Doom. Help.

I could yap about my musical world for literal hours. Like how the first few syllables of the Chorus to Papermoon by TommyHeavenly6 for the second opening of Soul Eater are a blinding icy white blue Bb that rises into a flurry of sakura pink (C#) down to a mix and mashy blend of the two (G#)

ahaaaa

That's the one thing that's always bothered me over the years of playing music. I can't read notes or recognize chords for shit. I just play by ear. And in the case of playing bass I've been using Rocksmith lol.

I just let the songs play for a while. Both this and the previous game has great music.

It's a waste of energy and wear on the console just to boot it up for a sound test these days, in my opinion.

I'd listen to most of the OSTs in each Kirby stages, it feels better to listen it in-game sometimes

Like this one for example
This song....oh my God I still remember all the parts. I don't even know how many times I listen to this. What about boss music? Tree or that magician I remember them had some good soundtracks.

im very sure a lot of us used to do this back then
i even remember this one obnoxious time i first played kingdom hearts and the main menu piano theme touched my kid heart and made me think it was the deepest, most soulful piece of piano playing in history (when it was literally just looping 😂) and so i turned up the volume on our JVC surround sound system waaaaaaay up and was like CAN YOU HEAR THIS NEIGHBOURS?!?!?! 😂😂💀

I do quick reading for all of you guys comments, but i think nobody said "i beat this boss many times only to listen to the credit song" type comment.
I do this alot, and i'm sure you guys do too, for me i'll choose this game as example, fatal frame 2,3 and .Hack//G.U vol.1..
sometimes i find other games OST that not appear in sound test, so i separate my savedata only for that song.
Cheers and have a nice day :)

I never use the sound tests. I haaave... booted up games just to hear the game's sfx along with the sound. Streamside from Ragnarok Online is better with porings bouncing in the background.

make them neighbours listen! it ISSSS the deepest most soulful piece of piano playing in history xD

Yes, I used to do this all the time with Tetris Attack/Panel de Pon. One of the very best SNES soundtracks imo.
Youtube is now much more convenient, but I think it's still a fun way to listen to the tracks, especially if you have original hardware. Booting up a SNES just to listen to some tunes is so nerdy it's beautiful.

I do occasionally boot up the Gameboy Robocop game for the opening title track on an emulator on my phone first thing in the morning to help myself wake up. Could just go to YT, but letting it play from the start screen is much more fun.

Specifically games that already have sound test settings. I'm currently listening to the Puyo Puyo 20th soundtrack in the game itself and for some reason I prefer to listen to it through the game itself rather than on websites.

I remember there was a time when I would listen to music from the games itself and turn up the volume on the television to enjoy the soundtrack even more, aahhh good times!

I liked to hear music tracks in Mario Party series from N64. Mario Party 2 and 3. Also I found really cool hearing soundtracks from Fifa Street on PS2.
