Am I one of the very few people who listens to the soundtrack through the game itself?

Specifically games that already have sound test settings. I'm currently listening to the Puyo Puyo 20th soundtrack in the game itself and for some reason I prefer to listen to it through the game itself rather than on websites.

I remember there was a time when I would listen to music from the games itself and turn up the volume on the television to enjoy the soundtrack even more, aahhh good times!

As a kid I remember booting up certain games just to listen to specific songs while not actually playing them, but I don't really do that anymore since it's so accesible on Youtube now, compared to back then.

I'd listen to most of the OSTs in each Kirby stages, it feels better to listen it in-game sometimes

Like this one for example

used to do that but now days everything is on youtube and i have many game ost on my hardrive

I may do it, depends on the game. For example, one time I just listened to the Plants vs Zombies tittle screen music until I got home from school. I probably listened to it 7 times in a row

I would think most of us did that at one point or another, but I just use YouTube or Spotify these days for my game music.

Though I have a few gems on my phone, Like the ACE 2 and Tobal No2 soundtrack.

It's definetly better if the console is a handheld; you feel like if it was boombox (yet not poweful). I like to put Time Trials for Waluigi Pinball in Mario Kart DS and hear the music, but I prefer hearing it in my DS Lite rather than my computer.

Lol, I remember doing that with silpheed on sega CD, since it has sound test, but that is all that comes to mind... Stage 01 is a banger! But if I wanted to listen to that, I would just start a new game; it's just not the same without all the shooting and squad chatter >_> Stage 05 is also really good, so I would listen to that one because I always found this game hard >_< so it would take effort to get to that one.

Also, I remember playing with the polygon test. No idea why... Anyway, brought back memories ;_;

I know a lot of people hate the game, and I do get that, but words can't describe that first initial feeling I had playing Assassin's Creed Valhalla and starting my first raid just to hear this delishable ass song start creeping in quietly. A lot of the battle music in that has a calm, yet sinister sound to it, and really captures the Nordic style well. I think the soundtrack deserved the Grammy but that's just me.

I used to fall asleep in class listening to Aku no Musume from Project Mirai DX on my 3DS.
Teachers fucking hated me, but I had a pretty good time with it.

i did this too until i got a psp and an old 1998 laptop. started collecting mp3s and putting them on my psp to listen to them while doing the dishes and other stuff.

I still do that if a game has a sound test or a music mode.

Most often if the game doesn't have that or if there are songs that I really like in a game even if it has that music mode in it, I will look up and listen to that song on Youtube or wherever.

I used to listen to music with my headphones like that during class cause i didnt have the schools wifi

I tend to have a special fondness for title screen pieces, Phantasy Star 1 and 3 and 7th Dragon 2020 come to mind as examples.
More in general I usually mess in the Ps2 Last blade compilation sound test, almost much hours as playing the game. The fact that you can listen both the arrange and original soundtrack was a pleasing surprise.

I remember doing this with Sonic 3&K as a kid on my father's Genesis. The themes of Hydrocity, Flying Battery, and Ice Cap Zone were listened to on repeat using the sound test. Special mention to the Minor Boss theme from S&K, too!

Every so often I still do this for many fighting games - Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 is a notable example.

Front Mission 4 with the Lock & Load ost. Used to spent days playing that game, sometimes without turning off, that title only sounds in the wanzer shop, so I spent most time there or simply went to bed withe PS2 on, with the wanzer shop in there just to hear it while taking a rest or doing something else.

I've listened to a great amount of racing game soundtracks (check images below), through the games, over the years. As well as a couple of Ace Combat games, fighting games, etc.

I would if I didn't constantly have music going through my brain 24/7 with the ability to recall any song I've heard before perfectly (autism)
The other day I got the Crash Nitro Kart theme song stuck in my head. Haven't played that game in like 13 years and I don't really listen to the theme that much. I had it perfect though lol. It becomes a problem sometimes when I recall a song and start laughing out loud that I remembered it.
