Hey-Hey Dudes,

I'm a relatively newbie Twitch streamer who's looking for some pretty good alternatives for Monster-Collecting games to play. Normally, I would have no qualms about playing the BIG franchise that involve Pocket Monsters, but given that the companies that owns it are using money to make patents that'll ultimately HURT the indie game industry in the long run.

So far I've tried the following: PalWorld, Dokimon, and I am looking to try Aethermancer soon.

Any and all recommendations are appreciated!

Disc Creatures is one of the better indie monster catching games I've played.

Coromon is another one I'd recommend even though I've not put a ton of time into it

I'd also say right now you have a new Digimon game that's pretty solid and Shin Megami Tensei games kinda have monster collecting aspects too.

We actually talked about it a while ago and people shared lists of games regarding it so you better check it out!!!!:

I'm a big fan of Monster Sanctuary, a 2D Metroidvania/Creature Collector mishmash from the same devs as Aethermancer.

I've also heard lots of good things about Cassette Beasts, can't personally vouch for it though.

I almost forgot about that thread :loldog

@SpaceCabinRen Also, Yo-Kai Watch is pretty good if you have access to a 3DS console or Emulator. There are a bunch of hacks for the latter too.

Dang, I kinda wanna close the thread (if given the option) now that I'm seeing all these replies.
Lesson: Look for a thread asking the same thing before posting. Again, thanks for the recommendations, y'all!

Well not necessarily. Perhaps those who didn't reply before about it may chip in to this thread so we may learn new games!!!

Plus, there'd be new members who joined after that initial thread was created ::thumbsupwario

I really enjoyed Monster Rancher 1 and 2. Monster Rancher 2 was better though. Both good, additive games but I'm not quite sure how you could do the disc spawning on an emulator.

I don't think Monster Rancher is a Pokemon-like experience, it's more a
Tomodachi-like game
the steam ports kinda adapts the cd spawn thing

Azure Dreams for the psx/gbc has a monster collecting in a random dungeon setting game....

Jade Cocoon-psx 2-ps2
Shaman spirit game for the gba
Dragon Quest V-multiplatform
Medabot/medarots-gb/gbc/gba/ds/gc
Telefang-gbc
Wizardry IV-dos/psx but the spells are not in english english, though the text is for psx version
BE WARNED Wizardry 4 is balls hard and only risk it if you like to be destroyed a lot....and I do mean a lot. It is a hard game.
