Alright, get it off of your chest! What game is nowhere near as bad as its reputation?

Final Fantasy II... i feel like its not that uncommon to say its underrated nowadays but It's honestly one of my personal favorites of the series. I love the leveling system actually and I feel it offers one of the purest forms of freedom in the earlier games, compared to ff1 where you're locked into the set of characters from the start, the illusion of choice in 3.. and the complete lack of freedom in 4.

You know, me and FF2, we’ve got beef — when you’ve got more monster closets than a classic Doom game, we got beef — but the leveling system will never be a complaint I have against the game. Being able to rock basically whatever you want for a class is awesome, and being able to specialize in spells to make them super strong is awesome too. Especially toad. And barrier. And I headcannon Mateus having an absolute hatred of frogs and dream of the day Square makes that a reality.

Zelda 2, goddammit! I understand WHY it gets hate, because it doesn't really play like a traditional Zelda game at all (although it was only the second one, so there was nothing much for it to be based off of, lol), and it's also pretty hard. But I'm convinced that the people who hate on it haven't given it a fair shot. It's difficult but I find it really fun, I beat it maybe 2 years ago now for the first time in ages. Is it still the worst Zelda game? Maybe, since all the others are so damn good, but I still think it's a good game.

I really like the PSP version of FF2. The level-up system is flawed, but it's a really interesting idea that I wish could have been explored more in future games. Letting your choices mold your characters is such a cool way to make a JRPG.

Fallout 76 is not as bad as people think they are just angry they did not get New vegas 2 or New vegas ultimate remaster OBSIDIAN will make it suck even more than 76.

Zelda 2 is kind of fun until death mountain.

Catslevania 2 is fun if you know where you going. Thank you game FAGs I mean FAQ >.< sorry had to make the joke.

Jaws and Bill & Ted's Excellent Video Game Adventure are two NES games that get trashed constantly but I grew up with them and enjoyed them. Same goes for ET and Pac-Man on the VCS.

RapeLay has a terrible reputation, but the only legitimate thing to complain about is all the genital polygon clipping they expected you not to notice because it was originally censored. The player character fucks the girls so hard his dick goes right through the other side of their bodies. Kinky.

Did you happen to try any of the Romancing SaGa or SaGa Frontier games, by chance? Kawazu got to refine his system much more in those titles.

I've played a bit of Romancing SaGa 2 and 3. Really liked 3, but lost my save and haven't gone back. I get where you're coming from, but those games feel so inscrutable that I never know what's going to level up, when, nor why; they don't really scratch that FF2 itch. Stats just go up and I say, "Oh... well that's nice."

Still, I do appreciate that about them. They feel like they were made in opposition to how many JRPGs focus on grinding.
Totally agree. I love the classic Ys series and I'm completely confused about the hatred for this game. It's a side-scroller, I get that, but it's still a great time. I played through the TurboGrafx CD version and thought it was a lot of fun. Frankly, I think it's far more interesting than Oath in Felgana, which I've struggled for years to finish because of how bored I get playing it.

Friday the 13th on NES is not an amazing game by any means that belongs on the list of upper echelon NES games, or is a secret hidden gem or anything, but it's also nowhere near as bad as a lot of people would have you believe. Yes, the map system takes a bit of figuring out and time to get used to, but it's honestly a fairly competent game outside of some its issues.
::heart agree. I would even kind of say it is amazing, in its own way. I agree with you that it is definitely not upper echelon and not something you can really recommend: it is not a game most can just pick up, play and enjoy (most will be confused on a first playing), but it's very ambitious for the NES. Once you understand the mechanics, it becomes pretty intense. I was surprised myself how much I ended up liking it ^_^ For me, a game is bad if it is boring and forgettable, and Friday the 13th is certainly not that. And 11/13/2026 is not that far away everybody ::winkfelix

Most recent ones I tried and liked were Star Fox Command and Star Fox Zero. Much better than people say, as long as you can open your mind to different control styles.

As I always say, Resident Evil 6 is far from being as bad as everyone says. It's a good and entertained shooter that is stupidly exaggerated and campy as RE has always been since the first game. I do agree there were too many quick time events, but apart from that, it's just more Resident Evil, but taken to the next level.

Mega Man & Bass as is usually seen as the black sheep of classic Mega Man, but why is really that?

The complains of it being too difficult and having plenty of "unfair design" are weird, because ALL the other classic MM games have both, but none get this kind of hate even if all the others have even more egregious difficulty and unfair design at times (MM2 and 9 have way more crappy design like this imo).

As for that game, just what kind of thing are most people doing to claim that this is the most difficult MM game? The levels are pretty tame in design and don't throw many cheap tricks without warning (and that one that does is crap anyway), the bossfights are a challenge but not MM7 Willy capsule unfair.

If anything, this game being more challenging than the average is a good selling point because Mega Man is supposed to be difficult and incentivize to try again until mastery.
