The thing about AI is that we have had it in games for as long as gaming itself has existed, so we need to start the conversation by assuming that fact first and foremost.

Some older games use aimbots to make up for the player's inability to look up, companion characters are a 100% powered by AI; even some maps and terrain are generated on-the-fly by AI -- advancing those areas can only be a good thing, IMO.

But, of course, we can easily go overboard as well (remember when devs thought that bloom and filters were the future of gaming and smeared them on everything? *Shudders*).

I'm ok with having AI as yet another tool.
Complaining about it would not get us anywhere now anyhow as AI is already advancing with or without us so best is if we at least try to direct it in a Direction we want as long as it is possible.
I also have to thinks about this funny Video
regarding AI and to be honest AI can be good in Gaming if used in the right way as tool without taking over the Creative Process in game development.

So in my own mind, it feels actually scary since we do see what AI does to the social media, there are even people who can't even decide if something is fake or not. But in one part it feels like if it is used in the right way and mind, then it could be a huge progress for gaming.

I don't really support that because it is more like i want to believe that it could help the gaming community, but when i think about the current state of games that are releasing, it really feels like, it can be the iceberg to this Titanic. It is just so unbalanced and uncertain that it kinda scares me a little.

For some example, Nvidia and AMD started using AI to boost gaming performance on RTX cards, which; Yes it does help with the frames, BUT it also makes the visuals look "AI Made".

Basically yes i think it is a curse, but it could be good if it's used correctly. Which i don't think they ever will.

Best use case for AI is moving a box from an area to another, or using it to duplicate an asset

But you should still feel guilty using it for that because it's displaced people's energy bills and made quality of life just generally more miserable for existing as a technology

Anything AI can do, you can do yourself, and if you "can't", you have to motivate yourself

Today I can't found a game if I don't have the entire name because steam is loaded with a huge amount of shity games, imagine how will be in five years when stupid people and bad people use AI to make prefabricated games, this will be an real crash in gaming industry.
You will be forced to farm number on others plataforma as a influencer to sell your game, otherwise you never can compete in this industry.
This is already happening with the "Hong Kong 97" sequel on Steam

Which is why I am not buying it and refuse to buy it

Personally, outside of really small indie teams, I can't imagin AI being used in a way that wouldn't have been handled much better by getting more actual human eyes/hands on the project.

Generative AI, by design, can only recycle what already exists. Even with human direction, they are dramatically limited in what they can actually achieve, and in most cases, you're going to be getting better results from a real artist.

That said, could it be used to help small timers or one-person outfits? Sure. But i worry that the struggle and constraints of being a small-time dev are part of why those games can come out and be insanely successful. That might be lost when you start having an AI do all the work for you.
