That's kinda it, that's the thread. I bought the game this past Steam sale kinda on a whim, since I was a bit on a management sim mood, and I immediately love this game. The fantasy setting and visual style are nice, the semi-randomized nature of making ephemeral settlements that can be finished in less than 3 hours makes it a great format for a chunk of gaming in one evening session, and the management gameplay itself is both simple to understand and very complex to master. Absolute recommend from me.

Have you guys played this game? Do you recommend other citybuilders? Between this, Manor Lords and Farthest Frontier (both on my wishlist for later) I'll never need to even look at another Anno title ever again.

You can never go wrong with older SimCity games. They're classics for good reason. Cities Skylines is also great (the first one). Other than that, old tycoon games are cool too. You may not build a city in them but the management aspect is similar enough I feel. Open Transport Tycoon Deluxe (it's FREE so no reason not to try it), Roller Coaster Tycoon, Zoo Tycoon, A-Train, heck even SimTower would probably do if you squint hard enough.

SimCity 3000 was my first computer game ever when I was a kid! I love that one to bits. I do have Cities Skylines downloaded but I have never actually played it. OpenTTD is a timeless classic, installed on every computer I get my hands on.

I've been thinking about finding space builder/management games. Spacebase Startopia was my jam when I was a kid too, and I'm sure there's more modern ones being made.
