After so many Giga leaks, which game prototype would you love to see get found and dumped?

For me, I’d love to get the Sega Saturn build of Shenmue preserved. I’d also love beta builds of Sonic Unleashed, Pokémon X&Y, Spyro the Dragon, and (I mean this 100%) Bubsy 3D to be found.

For the most part, I want betas from well known IP that were either just starting or were going through a massive gameplay shift. That is the kind of beta content that is the most interesting to me.

Actually, one more, I’d love one of the beta builds of the original Pro Skater to be found. The one that Tony Hawk himself was sneaking out to his friends with modded PS1’s. That would be sick.

Resident Evil 4 "Hook Man" build.
I'll second that a hundred times. Resident Evil by way of pursuer gameplay and playing with the player. Gimme.

But it's gotta be Black Isle's original Fallout 3, AKA Van Buren, for me. We got so much info over the years, and New Vegas was a truncated version of its story for the most part, but... Y'know, there's that unresolved "what if?" feeling, especially with how widely different in tone the series is now.

Once again, the best betas are the ones for series that are changing or being born. Love to see all the crazy unused concepts.

I forgot about that one. A tech demo did get out in the wild. Still would've liked to play the complete thing though.

I so, so badly want to know if a prototype of Metal Gear Solid for the Tiger Game.com exists.
I mean, Symphony of the Night for the Game.com was dumped in 2022, and many people thought that game was never produced, but the build that was dumped was near completion... and if that was anything to go by, not only do more of these cancelled game prototypes likely exist, but are also probably absolutely terrible but so, so incredibly ambitious.
The only evidence we have that it exists is from a Game.com software catalog, featured prominently alongside a NASCAR game (that was also cancelled), as well as some screenshots posted to Unseen64 back in 2010.

Haha! That’s incredible! Seems like they wanted to get the hottest titles from SEGA and Konami for the system, but mostly only the SEGA games ended up making it!

It’s possible it doesn’t exist. There are mockup screenshots that exist for Sonic Jam that look much better than the final game, even including features the final doesn’t have. These, at least to my knowledge, have been stated to have been nothing more than mockups, so Metal Gear might’ve had a similar fate. Still, if Symphony got out there, one can dream.

DUDE! YES!

Fanny pack Lucas isn’t real. He can’t hurt you.
Fanny pack Lucas:

My #1 most wanted unreleased game is Kirby GCN. Specifically the 2.5D build that reused the game engine of SSBM and Kirby Air Ride.

Others that I'm interested in include Twelve Tales: Conker 64 (I wanna see how much of it was reused in CBFD), Fifth Phantom Saga (a PS3 FPS made by Sonic Team of all people), CatRoots (the full trailer to whatever this thing was is lost media BTW. The snippet in the link is only a small segment of a much larger trailer.), and Capcom Fighting All-Stars (Capcom supposedly still has a working ROM, meaning it might be possible to put it in a third Capcom Fighting Collection if they ever decide to do so).

Ubisoft's Zodiac, but it's straight impossible since the only prototypes are on discs that each of the original developers have.

The Sega Saturn localisation of Devil Summoner that got cancelled

Sonic Xtreme, obviously. They gotta have the files.

Kirby GCN

Earthbound 64

(the original) Metroid Dread

Blur 2

Lufia 1 (SEGA Genesis). Apparently Lufia 1 almost made it to Genesis but was cancelled because of Taito America's 1995 closure

Plok (SEGA Genesis). That's actually mad, I wish this happened. Geoff Follin magic on SEGA Genesis ✨ (RIP)

Mega Man Mania (GBA)

Devil Buster, the canceled Sega Mega Drive SMT game that we only know existed because it was mentioned in a magazine combined with the cameo in (once again) Devil Summoner.

Also Fate Apocrypha, if it even was being developed.

Shantae GBA is actually getting finished

I know right!? It’s crazy and awesome that we are getting a new GBA game from a major publisher in 2025!

This is the one I’m most passionate about from this list. I want to know how far the project even got on DS hardware. Surely it must not have been very far, but they were confident enough to tease it, so maybe???

I'm trying to see those old prototypes of GTA3. I really wish we could get those. It's one of the most interesting betas for me because of what that game represents for Video Game History.
I'd also want to see a prototype of Crash Landed. The last Crash Bandicoot game that Radical was working on before Activision shat on them and bought the company just to shut it down.

The original Jim Bagley port of Doom to the Sega Saturn. Sounds like it was a masterpiece of Saturn development taking full advantage of the hardware and supposedly ran at 60fps. Carmack nixed it because it had some texture warping issues.

All proto builds for NES SMB3 would be nice to see

Also all the pre-canceled builds of the EarthBound 64 version of EarthBound 2/Mother 3

And all the prototype versions of Japanese Super Mario RPG, and Japanese Paper Mario.
