Man my ps2 just died yesterday after 16 we been thought thick and thin well the happy times and sad times all my top favorite games was on this system.

Do I buy a new or just put the games on ps3 cfw jailbreak

I don't like how the PS3 emulates a lot of PS2 games so I'd probably just try to get another PS2, but if some slowdown doesn't bug you then most PS2 games play mostly fine on PS3 so I'd say just save the money and dump everything if you aren't a stickler like me. I played God Hand on PS3 one time and decided never again lol

What finally crapped out on it that isn't reasonably repairable?

Reminds me when my Wii from my childhood had it’s disc reader die on me and I had to get a new one. I was so heartbroken. I had several Virtual Console games downloaded on that Wii.

I haven't set-up my PS2 or my Wii U in a while now, mainly out of fear that neither will work when I do. They both worked the last time I played them.
I know it's irrational, but they're kinda like Schrödinger's game console to me until I set them up and find out

If you can mod a ps3 easily, just do it (unless you want another ps2 for reasons of feelings and maybe you have physical games you want to use, I say this because I don't know if you can use ps2 games into ps3); I think the important thing is being able to play games, no matter where if they run ok!

It may be fixable, even in very simple way. A fuse or two from PS2 may need replacing, and fuses are very common electronic stuff. What is fuse?: You may think of them as "bridges" of different parts of the board to protect "areas" from "bad enemy electricity" so when things "go wrong" these fuses sacrifice themselves so enemy cannot pass the bridge. It means fuse's role is shutting down the system before it gets a permanent big deal damage. That's why a common PS2 troubleshooting is checking if every fuse is ok or not. If fuses are ok then gotta check other common electronic parts to replace them. So don't necessarily believe its GPU or something burned. It may be even a PSU problemo. Saving Private PS2 is not impossible, soldier!!!! <o lolol

I use pcsx2 on my pc, thanks to that I've been able to play "Dirge of Cerberus", "Shadow Hearts" and "Dawn of Mana", that I missed out when I had the console with physical games many years ago.

PCSX2 runs PS2 games AMAZINGLY so i wouldn't bother buying a new ps2 OR ps3 (the emulation SUCKS on ps3, like actual bugs and save corruption happens)
ps4/ps5 emulation is "okay" but lacking a LOT of options PCSX2 would give you
not mention, fast forward, slow motion, save and load state, full custom controller mapping to whatever you want
and mods, texture packs, and even cheats if needed
i mean, playing games at like 6x default resolution is enough said for me, usually x2 or x3 is enough to say "nah i don't need a real PS2"
and really fast loading times (and then factor in fast forward)
i just absolutely love fast forward, so many games waste time, or you just wanna get it done quicker (see ANY JRPG game)
and save states, i don't care, i use em, some games get infinitely LESS frustrating with save states.
on like a gtx1050 and 8gb ram and intel i5 (8th gen) it's more than enough to go into like, 4x fast forwards WITH 6x resolution, barely any effort

Save states. That's how I've been able to beat "Shadow Hearts" 100%, without throwing the controller! This one alone is the best reason to choose emulation, if possible.

Yeah, in fact I said "if possible" because it depends on what people have. If you have an already modded ps3 maybe you can use that; I don't have a ps2 anymore and never got a ps3. Maybe ask more expert people, but for what I know pcsx2 is not something you install, it's just "open and play", so if you feel safe you could try and see if it works. All the best luck in finding the best solution for you to replace your ps2!

I have a way better PC but even on my PC it screams like donkey and the FPS is like a professional slideshow!!!! lolol (and that PC can play Switch 1 games better lol)

And then when it works some games have fuck graphics. Can't ever think I would ever be satisfied with playing on PS2 emulators!!! Hell nooooo!!!!! *dramatic scream* lol
