Adulthood?

At what point in life did you realise that you had become an official adult, and how did it feel?
when I had to file my taxes

Becoming an adult isn't like flipping a switch; it's a slow gradual process.
And truthfully, we all feel like we're faking it at least sometimes if not all the time.

Roughly 2 weeks have passed since I ended high-school and in those 2 weeks I have truly realised that I am no an adult, or at least that I have entered adulthood and that now I have a lot of responsiblity, this, of course, has been a big shock to me but at the same time I feel very happy. But yet again, on the other hand, I still feel very sad that I am now not a kid or a teenager anymore, I am not going to be as carefree as I was and I will not have as much freedom. But to that, I, of course, have become very tenacious in trying to protect and trying to regain this sense of freedom and carefreeness, but enough about all of this. What about you? At what point in life did you realise that you had become an official adult, and how did it feel? Were you disappointed, excited or maybe even angry?
Bro I just turned 20 it’s been like 2 years since I left highschool in college and adulting what I’ve learned is like you never really get it all down it’s not possible. You do what you can and keep a good head on your shoulders to keep it pushing. Like there are people that at 40 I know and I’m somehow more money literate than them but it’s just knowledge they never learned things you think your supposed to know but some people don’t learn it so don’t stress becoming a official adult

This is a distorted view of reality.

The only exclusive freedoms you had in your early life were avoiding jail for crimes that would otherwise require it, getting more leniency if you broke the rules and have discounts off the list prices, but other than that, you never worked, so you never had the full power to be free, truly express yourself, and follow your dreams.

The reason adulthood carries a stigma for some is because they haven't chosen a job they like and that respects their rights or they have one that simply doesn't pay enough to put food on the table.

Other individuals at this stage of life become unbearable, because they turn into apathetic whores of shame trapped in the spiral of silence, but you can also ignore them, become more selective about the people you spend time with and find your inner balance.

Becoming an adult means being able to provide for yourself and those around you, but also understanding that as a society everyone needs each other to live comfortably and that a balance must be found, between keeping all of this in harmony and at the same time, making sure you’re respected to truly express one's passions.
