Very often I find myself wishing there was something to play on my phone while I wait, but basically all these games are filled with ads and pay2win and just completely awful experiences made to get our money. Most people I know just prefer to emulate old games instead, but I find very awkward to control games with touchscreen that are clearly not meant for it. So I wonder, what android games do you guys recommend? It can be a hacked version of games like these PvZ2 mods or maybe a paid game, or even some free game that isn't so annoying and filled with ads.

Kairosoft had a bunch of decent games if you're into casual business/management simulations. Basketball Club Story, Pocket League Story, Grand Prix Story or Game Dev Story to name a few. These days most of their output is available on Steam but I'm sure the old apks are floating around on the Internet.

Punishing Gray Raven if you get used to the visual novel narrative and you like a Hack n Slash similar to Devil May Cry. But its a gacha

At one time I had a Long list of games on Android that I searched on the Play store, just waiting to be played after completing the old ones. But as time went by, the games overall appeal and focus deteriorated, A.I and Brain-Rot games have stormed the store, the app consistently forces the person to play the popular games. For me I just have An Emulator, Vialadia and Stone Story Installed on my Phone. Vialadia is a farming simulator, but with Pixies(Similar to FarmVille)

Witch Spring series. They are great and fun games. Ex Astris can be entertaining and enjoyable as well, depending on how much do you demand to an Android game.
I second this, as well as Ex Astris
And a little game called Djinn Caster which is pretty decent

Kemco games are a hit and miss, but if you want to play something not too pretentious but cozy or just classical, they are usually a good option. I always thought Kemco is a very unique dev for a mobile platform.

sorry to say, that description might only be fitted by a gacha games. But might as well try Dragon Quest IX Offline, it was an MMO that had been discontinued and now they ported it to android.

or if you like the Powerful Pro Yakyuu series, try the gacha game. but the catch is it's in Japanese

Reup for Kairosoft, those games are amazing, some of them are surprisingly deep too, loved them, apart from that I remember a game where you play as a knight or something and fight giants knights or something you could prolly find the apk somewhere

Honestly.. dungeons of aether is a decent game. while it is also on pc.. i find that it works better as a mobile game

I often play DS stuff like Professor Layton on my phone. MelonDS on Retroarch is great and there's a decent chunck of the DS library that was made with touchscreen as the first mean of input. I only use FOSSDroid and the few games there are also ad-free. Cracked APK is not an option. I need my phone with trusted app. No googleplay either because I hate it so I use LineageOS.

Got a second phone still running the Android it cames with, and all the bloatware, to test things. But MelonDS is better.

If you like RPGS, then Chaos Ring III is pretty solid. It's a paid game, but there's no gacha, no ads and it has solid touch screen controls. It's still in the Play Store too! Another game is McPixel 3, a comedy game which involves getting the McPixel guy out of tricky situations that usually involves bombs.

Shattered pixel dungeon is fun its completely free and has no ads. I also love fgo it is pay to win but it has astolfo and he is one of the few things that gives me joy in this world

Vampire survivor, basically don't stop moving while our character attacks automatically, with Rougelike elements, sadly its formula has been ripped to sheds by ripoffs in Google Play, but the OG one still holds, it even has Castlevania DLC, the only time i paid for one in general, let alone for a Phone game

Tomb of The Mask, if you don't mind the ads (Even then, i only play it in trips, so they aren't an issue due to a lack of Wi-Fi) then is a chil and even relaxing puzzle game, with an arcade mode

Super Cat Tales 2 is basically a GOOD Super Mari Bros Knock Off, you have to use kittens with varied skills to reach the goal, but it still good, the game also LACKS ADS while being free

If you don't mind your Phone becoming a grenade (or you have a Phone more advanced than a potato unlike me) you will LOVE Monster Hunter Puzzle, the only Bejewerled game on Android i play

For something more arcade my fav is Candies and ghosts, feels like a simple BVubble Bobble game where you need to keep going forward shining your lamp on enemies

I can't recomend Adventure Bar Story enough, is a simple game of going into dungeon to get ingredients for your restaurant. The unique feature is that you get no exp from battles, but instead from eating the dishes you prepare in the kitchen.

If you don't mind gacha, Punishing Gray Raven is an excellent hack-and-slash game, and you can progress through the story just by upgrading base characters, there's also Honkai Impact, another example of a hack-and-slash gacha, and it's excellent, plus it has a lot of content.

there's no Dragon Quest IX port, Dragon Quest X Offline is the one that got ported to Android and iOS but only in Japan... and no, it wasn't discontinued

On Switch we're playing "Gems of Wars", basically you have 4 troops in card form vs 4 ai troops and you join gems and skulls to win and inflict damages, there are a lot of troops all in fantasy themes (giants, elves, dragons, soldiers, etc), lots of kingdoms to unlock, pvp, single player; sometimes we buy something, but for a long time we've bought nothing and never run out of things to do everyday.
This is about Switch version, you should try for yourself on android to see if there are annoying ads.

oh wow didn't expect it to still be on service, someone told me that it is dead that's why they're making it offline

The old phone games are the best, some of them you can only find the APKs. I reccomend Pac-Man, Only One, Wild Jane and Peacekeeper.
Anima ARPG and an other phone RPG are cool too.
COD Mobile can be great, if you like multiplayer games
