For example, I have a save from Uncharted 2 that I haven’t played in so long. When I go back to it I have no idea what to do and I have no clue at what point of the game this is in, so I don’t feel I know how to look it up. Is there a site with images of starting points or something? Idk, just thought I’d ask.

Just watch a walkthrough or something.

There isn't something that says "chapter 5" or whatever? It isn't like Uncharted games are super long, maybe just start over?

You can ask an ai to summarise for you the plot of the game until that point.

I usually just find a full playthrough on Youtube and skip through it until I find the spot where I'm at. I only really do this if I wanna know roughly how many hours are left. If it's been months since I last played a game I'll just start from the beginning when I come back to it. (Persona 2's been a monkey on my back for months now 🤣 )

I usually check out a FAQ or watch a video. Sometimes I replay a game after many years and I can't remember where I am. Sometimes I reload a very old save and have no clue what's going on. I don't want to start a new save if I'm too far in.

Nah. Usually when this happens to me, the game is usually simple enough for me to get my bearings and continue but if not idk. Start over and maybe make some notes about when you last left off in a game diary or something. Eventually you’ll get to the part and be like “OH!”
Though this is only for the games with no extra files like Pokemon. Since it’s so normal for games to have multiple files, I recommend using an empty file slot for things like that. Or just play Sonic Adventure, that game has the BEST workaround for this that it’s maddening more games haven’t picked up. Whenever you start from a save file, the character will describe the events that happened and/or where you need to go.
