I've been trying to install Better Homebrew Browser on my Vita. So, I've got the VPK in Vitashell, click on it, install it, get past warning, and then you see the progress bar reach 100%. After going back to the Live area, there is no bouncing bubble, no nothing, no sign that I just installed it whatsoever. Also, there's no folder for it in Vitashell's DATA folder.

I've tried this with versions 1.45, 1.44,, 1.43, even 1.4 but nothing shows up after what looks like a clean installation.

What the hell am I doing wrong? ::sadkirby

If you have any questions regarding Vita homebrew you should ask them in official henkaku dc server.

Personally I would advise against using things like Better Homeberw Browser, VitaDB Downloader and Autoplugin 2.
Those are often reason for crashes or even bricking the console. But why?
  • Because the users often donwload certain homebrews and plugins without thinking of how are those supposed to really work and function. Or install them while having already having homebrew/plugin that is incompatible with the one you just downloaded. If you download things manually you will at least know what you are doing.
  • Reason number two is that, if the one of those apps mentioned above malfunctions, and downloads something the wrong way, you the user will have no idea of it. On top of that some of the homebrews in those apps are dangerous and shouldn't be allowed to be download for public use. Good example of such hazard is Stock App Remover.

You should always try and downlaod homebrews directly from the source of where it was originally posted by it's creator. Which is usually GitHub.
You can find most of the Vita's homebrews and plugins on Gamebrew. Just download it from there using smartphone and transfer it back to Vita using something like CafeFTP.

Interesting. And until now I've never heard of gamebrew. And I agree about "anonymous" downloading through that app. Dunno what I'm going to do next, but thanks for your reply and introducing me to Gamebrew, much appreciated!

False alarm, nevermind (what an embarrassment)!

I figured it out. I have over 520GB of content on this thing, with 6 pages loaded to the gills with bubbles. 100 bubbles per page. Normally, I keep all of my "apps" in their own bubbles, while games get their own bubbles as well. I do not mix these.

So I tried to install this damned thing again, and keep in mind that everything else is working perfectly. So I figured to myself "this has got to be right in front of me, I'm overlooking something" and all bets are that the error lies with me. So I began to go through all of my pages and all of my bubbles. Sure as shit, the little fucker was hiding on page 4, 6th bubble. There was the app. I clicked on it and it works perfectly. Just for shits and giggles, I uninstalled it, and reinstalled it without incident.

The reason I even USE this app is because #1) I prefer the layout as opposed to VitaDB, and secondly, I can't fucking SEE VitaDB, it's WAY TOO SMALL on this screen. I have seen YT vids where it is more legible (it looks "bigger"), but I don't know how to make VitaDB any bigger nor how to customize it with images and colors.

And in response to Roy U. OmOm, that link you posted to me above is FANTASTIC. I agree about such kind of downloading, and what's great about that site is that there is a .VPK for just about EVERYTHING (except maybe plugins?) and I prefer to have the .VPK itself as opposed to having it downloaded directly through that app (with no .VPK to save).

Oh by the way, this was ALWAYS about the functionality of my Vita (that's what concerned the living hell out of me), and not necessarily the app itself.
